Renegade Roper
We are looking for a rifle to practice with in .22LR (to save on reloading the .45 cowboy specials and time involved reloading, more time for shooting is always a good thing) that looks & feels similar to our 1873's which have the 18 and 20" barrels. We see that Henry makes a Frontier model for about $315. Is there anything similar and has anyone used these? Thx RR
Chili Ron
Howdy, Im not sure about 73s but there are some 1866 style .22 uberti around. They may not be current production but come up sometimes on gunbroker. If you look at one it sure looks like a .38 or .45 until you see the barrel. I talked with the navy arms and vti folks and most of the parts interchange except for the carrier and barrel and feed tube. Henry is a good little rifle to practice with but way lighter than the 73. Best of luck in your hunt. CR
Grizzly Adams 3674
Here's an Uberti 1866 in 22LR. I have one of these, and they are great little practice rifle in 22LR. They can be tuned up and short stroked just like the center fire version. All parts, except those specific to caliber, interchange with the center fire rifles. Doc Coles SASS 1188
Uberti also made an 1873 in 22lr, (as did Winchester) but they have not made them in years and they didn't make many, so they are very hard to find these days. If you ever see one, snap it up.

Chili Ron
Howdy, I just got mine about ironed out. They sure made an accurate little gun there. I see they are still listed on the uberitreplicas site. I think that is for europe. Maybe they might import some if folks wanted em. Mine says Navy Arms, so they brought em at one time. Best CR
Packrat Ron
I was excited to find an 1866 in .22 recently in a shop, until I picked it up. That little bore down the barrel makes it weigh more than I thought I would like.
