Contingent Fee McGee, #71885
On my newer Uberti (Winchester Clone) 1873 rifles that have a firing pin extension stop (instead of a pin that needs to be driven out)that holds the firing pin extender and the breech bolt together, the firing pin springs want to stay inside the breech bolt, rather than drop out with the firing pin like they do on the older models that use the pin instead of the extension stop. 1. Is the firing pin spring supposed to come out? 2. If so, how does one get it in and out without stretching or bending it so that it no longer works(like I did to one today)? Thanks. Manatee
Use a Q-tip with most of the cotton off of it.

Lead Ringer
I just had this happen to me! The little spring wouldn't drop out of the bolt. What I did was, took a little nail with a head on it, reached inside the bolt and spring, then hooked the nail head on the spring and fished it out. What caused mine was a little grove in the bolt, that hooked a sharp edge on my spring. Good luck.
