Pecos Red SASS#19018
Top of the morning to all of you! I have a dear friend with teminal cancer. His only interests at this stage of the game is in movie westerns and antique firearms. He is a huge fan of John Wayne's epoc THE ALAMO, and has asked me a question about the rifle that Jim Bowie AKA Richard Widmark used in this movie. It was a multi barreled rifle of some sort! Can any of you movie western history buffs give some insight on this subject? Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and would give my friend a badly needed boost in spirit. Thanks to all. Tom Bullweed
I am constantly amazed at the knowledge of fellow cowboy aciton shooters. Four minutes after this question was posted, it look like a correct and very obscure answer was provided. I hope that your friend is doing better. The very rare gun in the Duke's 'The Alamo' is the flintlock trapdoor. It looks like many of the actors are using military surplus trapdoors that had flintlock hammers and frizzens added for 'authenticity'.

Oddnews SASS# 24779
The Nock rifle is also a feature of the "Sharpe's Rifles" book (and BBC TV series). It is carried by Sharpe's giant Irish sergeant, supposedly the only one big enough to handle it's recoil.
Silver Shadow
If I remember right, I believe there was one in ACE HIGH with Terrance Hill and Bud Spencer (of TRINITY fame)also.
