I want a Peep Site for 66 rifle

Here we go. I want to put a rear peep site on my new 24" barreled 45lc Uberti '66. I want to use it for side matches (long range rifle, pistol caliber) and as a back up to my other '66. Any suggestions, problems, instalation notes, any information would be helpful.

thanks,

Slim

I used a Marbles on my 66. Had to drill and tap at least one hole. It was very easy to do.

I have used Lyman on several rifles and they have performed well, and a little less expensive. You may have to drift the front sight though.

You really only have two choices. The Marbles tang sight is adjustable for windage, the Lyman is not. No surprise that the Marbles costs a little bit more. When I first started shooting CAS I put a Lyman tang sight on my Winchester Model 1892. It worked fine and I never had a need for the windage adjustment. Your mileage may vary.

Howdy,

Im getting a tang sight from Daves Outfitters and it should

arrive any day. cost about 70 bucks.

I will put it on my uberti and let you know how it fits.

There are a number of alternatives to lyman and marbles.

I have a marbles on my marlin and I got one with a left side

adjustment, it makes a little room for my thumb.

Howdy,

The tang sight arrived and is almost installed.

This is the first one with the range adjustment on top for me.

It sure looks at home on the tang of the 66 and it just clears the

cocked hammer and the hump of the buttstock.

It is ever so slightly off and I cant quite get the screws all the way down.

Remember the holes on the 66 were drilled and tapped a couple owners back.

This might be as good as it gets but Im takin it to a machinist tomorrow.

He might have an idea of where to take off a whisper of metal and get the fit better.

This is Jeffs Outfitters tang peep sight number SIT1101 including screws.

Price was 64.95 shipping 6.95.

Next I need a halfway warm day when the range is open.

Good luck with your .45.
