Doc Windshadow
Yes every one knows he designed it but the international press has decided to re name the gun in his honor it seems http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12792633 I do not recall it having any other name than Colt 1911 and Government Model 1911A1 until all the clones started popping up in the 80s Oh well perhaps it is a decision by Utah to honor a native son but to me it will be a Colt pistol forever
DocWard
I think it should read "John Browning's M1911" because the reason Utah adopted it as the State firearm because of him.
Tom Payne 13115
Because any thing goes today. And when any thing goes, every thing is gone!! Just my take on the way things are today.
Chisler Wood
In John Browning's time things like patriotism, and honor meant something........He gave away gun designs that our military still uses today.........As far as I'm concerned it's a BROWNING no matter what's stamped on the side.......Colt and FN should count themselves lucky to have had something of his to manufacture........
