OLD TUCSON PRESENTS WILD WEST DAYS

Friday, April 1 thru Sunday, April 3, 2011

Join Old Tucson for Wild West Days – a Celebration of Old West History, Culture and Heritage on April 1-3! This three-day festival will center on “ Tombstone ” (the movie), which was filmed at Old Tucson and its sister film location, Mescal. Partial proceeds will benefit the Tucson Rodeo Parade Museum .

The event will showcase the movie “ Tombstone ” with author Peter Sherayko, who played Texas Jack Vermillion in the film and will exhibit and discuss his collection of guns and gear used in the film. Also on hand will be several of the Original “Red Sash Cowboys” from the movie in costume. A must-see for fans of this now iconic film.

Be one of the first to visit our new Native American Village , Old Tucson’s latest addition to our cultural western experience. The village is a replication of traditional Tohono O’odham dwellings nestled between the Spanish Mission and the Rio Lobo pool and stream.

Don’t miss the special display by the Tucson Rodeo Parade Museum featuring historic rolling stock (horse-drawn vehicles). Museum docents will be on hand to discuss the vehicles and their history. In addition to our Western Musical Revues and Stunt Shows, Wild West Days will showcase skills and thrills from the Old West including:

Kowboy Kal with his fancy trick roping, gun play and bull whips all while standing on horseback. Kal is the Guinness Book World Record Holder of the Largest Wedding Ring Loop (100 feet)!

Sourdough Slim, the accordion-playing, yodeling cowboy who steps back in time with an authentic vaudeville style cowboy show in the Will Rogers tradition.

Professor Farquar and Polecat Annie and their “Great American Medicine Show”

Mounted Buffalo Soldiers

Western merchandise and Native American crafts and performances

Street entertainment including performances by the Old Time Fiddlers of Southern Arizona
