Tres Pistolas Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 So - we have Buckaroos 13 and under, Young Guns aged 14 - 16. Buckaroos and Young Guns are all Juniors (16 and under). Then there are Wranglers, 49ers and on up the line. Am I correct that the age based categories seem to have a big hole from 17 to 35 ? What category do most 17 - 35 year old shoot in your vicinity ? Cowboy ? B-Western? Gunfighter? Duelist?
Marauder SASS #13056 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 For clarification, except for the junior categories, other than Cowboy, age based categories have a lower limit only. For example, A 49ner must be at least 49, but can be 65 if they choose to shoot 49'er. Similarly Wrangler must be at least 36 but can be much older. The Cowboy category is essentially an "open" category as it can be any age. A Junior can shoot cowboy just as well as someone 22 or someone 62.
Grizzly Dave Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Yup, what they both said. While I qualify for 49er, I can shoot that, Wrangler, or Cowboy.
Gold Canyon Kid #43974 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Yup, what they both said. While I qualify for 49er, I can shoot that, Wrangler, or Cowboy. Or Classic Cowboy, Duelist, Gunfighter, B Western, etc. Lots of choices.
Willy Whiskers Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 This is all good news. I shoot senior duelist and will be moving to silver senior next year. But in our club we have a very stong SS catagory and if I can just keep hiding in the SD cat. that would be great. WW
Brother King, SASS #69031 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I prefer Frontier Catholic. is that black powder from a kneeling position?
Utah Bob #35998 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I dunno. Never paid much attention to the age stuff.
