SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER
I finally aquired a .44 Special '73 so I could convert it to .44 Russian to match my model 3 Russians. I have the Adirondack Jack Cowboy Special carrier, but my cartridge length seems too long. They are 1.25 and catch on the magazine tube. Naturally I have already loaded all 1,000 of my brass. What length do you use withh the AJ carrier? I solved my problem by taking some off of the stop, may have been the wrong thing to do, but it worked very nicely at the shoot today. Adirondack Jack, SASS #53440
Sgt Eli, ya dun right. The carrier was designed to run with C45S, and .44 Russian is a hair longer. You can safely reduce the nose of the cartridge stop about .020 or .030" with no problems as long as the nose angle is kept as supplied, so the nose of the stop contacts the case head squarely.
