Anti-Remake Pards Beware

Recommended Posts

We got some geezers here who shake their canes whenever Hollywood dares to remake a John Wayne movie; True Grit most recently brought 'em out on their porches again.

So there should be outcry (no, not from those guys, but maybe from the gals)-- Jane Eyre is out this weekend. This is the 18th movie made from the book. This does not count the 9 made-for-TV versions.

Some day I'll have to read it and see what all of the fuss is about!

I'm approaching geezerhood, but I really haven't seen an outcry about True Grit. Anytime Hollywood remakes a western, it should be good news as rare as they are. The new one was very good, NO ONE will ever replace the Duke, but if a film is well made I don't see any problem. Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot, Clint Eastwood and guys like them are rare in Hollywood, and casting them in new westerns is even less likely. The Duke is gone, so if I wanna watch a new western, i'm gonna have to watch somebody else. But like Dusty said, if I can help it, I don't support liberal anti-gunners....
