I would just like to state that I have seen none of the films up for Academy Awards.

Except for an occasional good western or war movie I gave up on Hollywood 'bout 20 yrs ago. Never had any interest on who was on the running or who got what. Fact is I catch myself watching B&W movies more and more.................mebbe I'm regressing, or sumpting.

And neither have I and don't intend to

Me neither...

Ya know, boys... I don't even watch TV... ceptin' for taped sh*t (just to zap commercials)... and video stuff. Ain't watched stuff on TV in over two years. Got burnt out on TV cause of all them advertisin' lies they tell...

For instance... couple years back... they advertised a show called Locked Up Abroad. Ya know what? They weren't hardly any broads locked up on that show... hardly none... that's what. Man gonna fantasize 'bout a bunch of females in jail... and most them dam shows was 'bout some swingin'-d*#@-types. What a let down. Shoulda called the dam misleadin' show... Locked Up a Swingin-D*#@.

Another instance... watched a show called Cold Case... and get this... IT DID NOT HAVE A DAM THANG TO DO WITH BEER. It was a 'bout a bunch of unsolved killin's and such. When I think of a Cold Case... beer's the first thing that pops in my head. Not some unsolved cop stuff. Shhheessshh!

I saw True Grit, 6th movie I went to in 10 years, I enjoyed it.

For the most part I hate supporting them rat bastards in Hollyweird.

Haven't seen the Oscars in years, won't watch them when they're on either

Well, I've seen almost all of them, some several times! There was a good crop of movies this year.

Cofachique Dick ( who lives 5 minutes from a theater).

I don't have anything against picture shows, (except the doc won't let me eat popcorn anymore). I'd like to catch True Grit.

Mostly, I don't like driving back from town in the dark up old 666 dodging deer and elk in the snow and ice.

For us it's @ 142 miles round trip to see a movie. The only Oscar nominee I have seen for this year is True Grit. We head to Las Vegas, NM for dinner and a movie, or if we plan to do some shopping, we make it an all day Saturday event in Albuquerque. Most of the films I see, however, on are Blu Ray or DVD.

Hi Folks,

I haven't been to a movie in years. Hubby won't go and now we live in the boonies. It's an hour drive to the closest theater.

My MIL does go frequently. She said The King's Speech was great.

I probably will not watch the Oscars; but will watch Joan River's Fashion Police.

Regards,

Allie Mo

I saw two of 'em, True Grit and The King's Speech. I thought both of them were Oscar-worthy. For you guys that hate movie theaters, but like movies, rent both of them when you can.

They are two great movies.

+1

Both excellent movies. I even saw True Grit twice. And I'll buy it when it's out on DVD.

I have not seen any of the movies but I do have a cat named Oscar

BH

Thanks Mr. Harris, Now I know who OSCAR is. I too had a cat at one time, that was named Oscar Norman.

He was a bit different, even for a cat.

That's actually a Utah-Modified cheap Bailey 2X wool that I've had awhile. The original Army issue hats were cheap wool too.

I got a 1 1/2" ribbon from Whalemart and sewed it on and put an officers hat cord over it.

It had a rancher's crease so I changed that to a cavalry pinch and voila It would be pretty close to 1872 regulation if I cut the brim down a bit but I like the shade. ;) .

Anybody remember when it was about a two hour show, all the men in tuxedos, all the women in simple formals? And they just read the catagory, the films nominated, and then the winner?

Yeah Joe, I remember that and I quit watching when it began to get like it is now.

I think it is pathetic that the film industry spend so much time and money explaining to each other how great they are. No other industry spend so much time in mutual self gratification.

If you will note, the films and actor idolize have nothing to do with popularity or box office receipts.

The wife and I watched last night, first time in many years to see the awards. I told her when we heard a True Grit nomination that it would not win anything. The Oscars just don't go to westerns - not artsy, cutesy enough for that crowd. They like movies like the Black Swan better. I'll stick with my westerns and leave the Hollywood crowd to themselves.
