Big Jake1001 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) Deja, I don't want to burst your bubble but...You might have a Colt derringer made by Butler Arms of New York. They were made in 1959-1963 and sold up till 1977 as cute little "Show Guns". They were made of pot metal with a steel liner in the barrel. Not meant for a lot of shooting. Do a Google search for Colt Lord and Lady derringers. They were sold in sets of two or single as Baron and Baroness. Some were blue with wood handles and some nickeled with faux mother of pearl. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh428/btolliverjr/Derringers2.jpg Big Jake Edited February 22, 2011 by Big Jake1001 Quote

I bought it cuz I like it and I did think it was a bit older, but if not I am fine with it. The auctions was a great one, the people were nice, I got a gun.. and I like it.. I love it.. the side twist just interests me is all. even if it is not old, it looks old.. lol.. Oh, heck guns are old.. lol.. Even if it ends up being from 1970 that still makes it 40 years old.. lol.. Forty is old, right? ah.. darn guess not.. lol. But it is cute, and I will be happy with it in a garter on my leg so who cares, right? lol... The point is having fun.. and that I am having.. lol Quote

Grumpy Old Man Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Nice pic DV, but I was disapointed it wasn't in your garter. Quote
Wolfgang, SASS #53480 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 K/// That is NICE . . . and is a "lady's gun" . . I've seen Rick's and while nice, . . it is a "double barreled MAN'S gun" You've got the right one for you. Quote
Barterin Bill Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Cool looking gun. Probably would look better in your garter, but think twice about shooting with it there. Remember if it falls out, it's a dropped gun. The more guns you carry the bigger the chance of dropping one. Someone posted a link to a list of serial numbers and DOMs here a while back. I thought I saved it, but can't find it. Maybe someone else has it and will post it for you. Quote

So I will probably wear it later, after the shoots at special events .. just for fun. I found a link, but it was not a great one, maybe someone will post a better one. Quote

The point is having fun.. and that I am having.. lol Deja, The derringer you have is made to look like the Colt 3rd model Thuer in .41 rimfire. The reason it looks old is because it's a replica of that model. I think they're called Colt 4th model in .22 short made in the sixties. I love the looks too, but have never bought one. A real Colt .41 costs $1750-$2500. Kinda expensive for a "show gun". I don't think you'll hurt any collector value by reblueing yours to make it pretty again. Maybe re-varnish the wood grips too. Have fun with it...that's the important thing. Big Jake Edited February 23, 2011 by Big Jake1001 Quote
