Red Logan #12252 Posted February 21, 2011 Share Posted February 21, 2011 I have often wondered why the conservatives are called the “right” and the liberals are called the “left.” By chance, I stumbled upon this verse in the old testament of the Bible: Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV) “ The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left .” That sums it up pretty well... > > YOU CAN'T HAVE A BETTER REFERENCE SOURCE THAN THE BIBLE ! Utah Bob #35998 Posted February 21, 2011 Share Posted February 21, 2011 The original French Estates-General (legislative assembly) was set up with the supporters of the Monarchy and Church seated to the right and more liberal members to the left.
