Oklahomabound
...it's the diesel prices that hurt; putting the RV on the road with diesel @ $3.50 is tough....
dutch bear
Nation City Price in USD Regular/Gallon Netherlands Amsterdam $6.48 actualy is it even more, i live in the netherlands aout 60miles east of Amsterdam and we pay €1.52 a liter(and normaly thats cheaper than in Amsterdam) that is: 1.52X3.6 liters in a gallon=€5.47 a gallon 5.47X1.35 exchance rate =$7.39 a gallon and to the one that said, that is al due to taxes. YOU ARE WRIGHT! over 60% of the price here is taxes in one form or the other. When we buy a new car it is the same, 60% of the sales price is taxes, oil and car companies actualy make less money here to keep driving affordable. it is often said that if we would stop driving for a couple of weeks the dutch goverment would be bankrupt, but then again if we bankrupt the goverment, the money has to come from somewhere and i don't think the politicians wil take a pay cut. Red Logan #12252
The price of Gas versus Printer Ink All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are.... You will be really shocked by the last one! (At least, I was...) Compared with Gasoline...... Think a gallon of gas is expensive? This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective. Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ..........$9.52 per gallon Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ......... $10.00 per gallon Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ...... $33.60 per gallon Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .....$84.48 per gallon And this is the REAL KICKER... Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.) Ever wonder why printers are so cheap? So they have you hooked for the ink. Someone calculated the cost of the ink at............... (you won't believe it....but it is true........) $5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars) So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink! Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump... And - If you don't pass this along to at least one person, your muffler will fall off!! Okay, your muffler won't really fall off...but, you might run out of toilet paper

Charlie Whiskers
There are wells in the US that were drilled and capped back in the 30's.Still sitting there untouched and according the the Govt, they're reserves incase of a national emergency.BUT the real reason and this was admitted by....I believe it was Standard Oil about 10 years ago....they won't use it because it's "old oil".That means they'd have to sell it at the going rate of when it was drilled and capped, not todays market rate. And you're right,we probably wouldn't save that much money even if we did become non-dependent on foreign oil.The stock holders and CEO's and even OPEC would throw a major tantrum. And btw...my major means of getting around is a 94 Ford Escort I have about $2200 into and it gets 35-38 mpg at freeway speeds.Got enough room for my gun cart and have fun toys.
