Here's how to keep all that political 'news' in perspective...

1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.

2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.

3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country and who are very

good at crossword puzzles.

4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don't really understand

The New York Times. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie charts.

5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn't mind running the country,

if they could find the time -- and if they didn't have to leave Southern California to do it.

6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a poor job of it,

thank you very much.

7. The New York Post is read by people who don't care who is running the

country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.

8. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country, but need the baseball scores.

9. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is read by people who want only the score of

the Cardinals game. They drink Budweiser, Budweiser, and wait a minute -- what was the question?

10. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure if there is a country or that anyone

is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders

are handicapped minority feminist atheist who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country

or galaxy, provided of course, that they are not Republicans.

11. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store.

12. The Seattle Times is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something to wrap it in.

13. And the Fresno Bee is read by people who have no grasp on the reality of how the country (or anything else for that matter) should be run, OR believe that California State University Fresno is primarily a life support system for their sports program only, OR find amusement with any combination of the above.

Right on with the Seattle Times. The Seattle Post (almost)intelligencer is for people with a bird cage needing the poop liner.

The Chicago Sun Times is read by those who think they run those who think they run the country, but would rather have more power and less notoriety.:angry:

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is always catering to the liberal Dems in the city and surrounding county. They have news reports from the NY Times, LA Times, Boston Globe, Wash. Post etc. There's ONE right winger that has a peice once a week and gets slammed for his views in letters to the editor. Only paper I can get here.

There was a time long ago, maybe beyond this galaxy, when reporters and reporting the news was a source of pride and also made sure any corruption was on the front page. Today the news is either conceived, or twisted toward a control of the mindset of its readers. Its whats also used by Dictators to give readers only what they want them to hear. Its happened before, slowly but surely its happening again. Kinda makes all them futuristic movie true, instead of fiction. MT

Didn't the New York Post close shut down in the 70's?

And not to fear! These bastions of social liberalism and economic conservatism are living on borrowed time ~ in ten years only a very small percentage of the population will have the literacy to read them.

Buena suerte,

Folks: You may slam newspapers if that is you choice.....BUT.......Where do you think your community will learn of what happens in your town, keep track of what the local pols are up to, let you know what your high school team did when they visited the big rival school out of town? Just look your news up on the internet? Where do you think that comes from? Generally, "stolen" from a l paper. Look at the 6 pm news, generally following the lead of the paper. You might be surprised at the political views of most newspeople, a great deal more conservative than you might think. Just my two cents, from someone who has been in the business since '75.

See you down the trail......
