Standard installation called for a thin slit in the rubbed of the pad to admit the screw and screwdriver (a drop of oil in the screwdriver will prevent parking the pad now some smiths would glue the slit closed when the finished the final tightening which can make the slits hard to find also you have to guess at the type of screw head they used but locate and if needed recut the slits and then unscrew

 

because of the taper you will I expect need to fit a new pad after you make and fit your spacers The Brownells web site has good step by step instructions

 

Pf course fitting a leather lace on butt cover would be far simpler and cheaper too boot

Glad it was of help some folks also pad the slip over pad to adjust the angle of the butt as most of the SG targets in our sport are on the ground rather than flying over head
