Recommended Posts

Was looking at Gun Blast http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2011_0.htm So far they have media day posted. Only thing that caught my eye was Colts reintroduction of the New Frontier in 44 special and 45 colt,oh their were some 92 lever guns from MKS supply. No pictures of the Merwins as of yet. Day 1 http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2011_1.htm Day 2 http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2011_2.htm Still no Merwins! Day 3 http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2011_3.htm S$W has gotten into the Judge thing, actually it's called the Governor, chambers 45 acp,45 colt and of course .410 shotshells. Adios Sgt. Jake

Updated Now day 1 http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2011_1.htm Lots of cool toys not much in the way of cowboy. Somehow I'm not wowed by a 28 ga. Taurus raging whatever, available in the circuit judge or in a revolver, ho hum. Adios Sgt. Jake

In the realm of automatic pistols look for the new Ruger LC9. A heckuva nice compact 9mm if you don't mind plastic guns. Could become my first plastic handgun.

I guess that I don't understand the fascination with the Ruger LCP and now the LC9. Kel-tec has been making ultra-compact pistols in .380 and 9mm for years. Before the LCP came out, you couldn't find anyone that would consider the .380 an effective self defense caliber. Then the LCP comes out, and .380 is the hottest thing going. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the Rugers as they make a great product, but they must do an even better job at marketing to be able to convince people that the LCP and LC9 are hot new ideas?

Day 3 http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2011_3.htm S&W gets in on the Judge thing as is Rossi also. Cimarron shows some guns on this one. Joey Dillion does some fancy gun handling as well.well the show is over, lots of new shotshell capable revolvers,if that's your thing. Adios Sgt. Jake

Best thing I saw was the return of the Colt Mustang.

That will be a winner for Colt (as long as the price is competitive.)

Pancho I have to agree with ya. I got together last night with a couple of pards to do some casting, while the three of us are sitting in front of the pots talk got around to what's new at the shot show and their merits. Two of the three of us thought the Colt Mustang was the highlight, none of us are all that impressed by gizmos and do dads. Adios Sgt. Jake

Ruger seemed to do OK with the LCP selling much more than they could manufacture for first 6 months or more, same with the LCR. Remember you have a whole new customer set for concealed carry and most want something small/light to carry. I tried a Kel-tec gun once and know why Ruger sells so many more guns. The new ammo like Hornady Self Defense makes a 9mm or 380 a good choice for a light weight carry gun. Better to have a light weight gun than no gun.
