Winchester 94, .40-65WCF

Does anyone know if a Winchester 94 (.30-30) can be rebarreled to .40-65WCF? I have an old one I bought cheap, but in good condition. Thought I'd like to match the caliber to my Hi-wall. Any thoughts?

Thanks for any comments

I think the harder part of the job would be reworking the bolt face and extractor.

The 30-30 has a rim diameter of .506", the 40-65 is .604". Might also need a larger diameter mag tube.

Another problem is going to be OAL. The 30-30 is 2.55", the 40-65 is 2.78". Don't think it'll fit.

Don't know how deep your pockets are, but I think your most viable option for a lever gun in 40-65 would be one of the Cimmarron 1876 Winchester reproductions.

Thanks for the input!

Yeh, I haven't asked a gunsmith about it, and I wondered about the dimensions etc. Just thought I would ask. Maybe I'll have to go for an 1886!!

Thanks again,

Padrino
