Some electric going in the walls, and they are preparing to install the siding. The wind was blowing 40mphs and being the fair-weather cowboy-supervisor,that I am I headed for the barn. Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Just got back from the Shot Show. Several Winter Range board members went to meet and greet sponsors and vendors and, hopefully, recruit a few new ones for WR 2012. A match was going on next door, so work couldn't proceed above the berms. But, here is what she looks like today. Interior wiring done, siding started, window and door framing done, and the front poarch/upper deck started. You can also see where the lights will be on either side of the soon to be swinging doors. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030191.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030174.jpg The rear has also got most of its siding done. (The rear door and windows have temporary covers on them. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030177.jpg

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Good thing it has been sunny and warm cause it seems like each day of work is getting a little longer. Major exterior and roof work are pretty much done. Crown moldings, rosettes and trim are going on around all the doors and windows. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030209.jpg The interior is tongue and groove knotty pine and is starting to look really good. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030219.jpg
Turquoise Bill, SASS #39118
Larsen, When do the dance hall girls arrive to cheer on the completion? Perhaps a promise of some adult beverages at completion would speed the final work. See ya soon, TB

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Aaaak! What he said. Fear not. We have scaffolding and a variety of ladders. I was busy shooting the pictures and didn't notice one of our over exuberant volunteers had scampered up to get a quick measurement. If you go back and look at that post, you'll see the same scene about ten seconds later.

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
The outside is now pretty much finished, as is the interior. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030260.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030243.jpg The shooting shelves are installed and are 66" x 36". Even I can get my shotgun re-staged on those tables! http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030257.jpg Now comes the detail work that takes so much time. Priming, painting, staining the interior, building the bar, installing the lights and other interior features. We're still looking at interior stain colors. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030250.jpg The outside colors have been selected. All I can say is that everyone that has seen them simply says they are "eye popping." Posts on the building will now be fewer and farther between since detail work really doesn't show up well in photos. There are lots of other things also going on. Here's a bunch of new targets primed and ready for paint. It's hard to tell from the photos but a lot of these plates are 22 inches! There are also several new soda can throwers. The soda cans move at a predictable rate and direction and have been a real hit, as in most everyone can hit them! YEEHAA. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030262.jpg

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Winter has hit Arizona along with much of the country. It only got into the 60's today. Actually supposed to get the edge of the nationwide storm tomorrow and the next few days and dip into the 40's. Makes painting a little difficult, but the show must go on as Winter Range is fast upon us. Got the interior staining done. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030270.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030277.jpg Why is the lower 1/3 rd of the walls not stained? Tune-in, if it's not too cold the next few days the finishing touches on the interior should begin. The first base coat of color also went on today. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030283.jpg The color is much richer than the photo shows and remember this saloon is a reproduction of a Victorian era saloon so there are more colors to come! Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Phoenix saw the edge of the nationwide winter storm and on Tuesday it was in the 20s and the wind at Ben Avery was blowing 35 to 40 mph. Nothing could be done. Wednesday saw the temps in the balmy 30s and the wind down a bit, but even with sealing the doors and windows and buying a heater it was still to cold to continue the interior staining/painting. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030287.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030290.jpg Thursday saw temps in the 40s with 50s on Friday. The interior paint and floors were largely completed. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030310.jpg Saturday saw temps in the 60s and almost back to normal. For various reasons the Saloon had to be essentially done by Saturday evening. Winter Range is rapidly approaching and and there are hundreds of things to be done to get 12 shooter friendly stages ready for Winter Range's 20th Anniversary. The Winter Range volunteers turned out in force on Saturday and started about 8:00 a.m. There were dozens of tasks to complete, but the emphasis was on the Saloon. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030333.jpg Finally, at 5:00 p.m. it was done! It is spectacular and easily visible from the highway a mile to the south. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030352.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/pettifogger1/P1030359.jpg Hope to see as many of your as possible in a few short days and hope everyone enjoys the new stage as much as we did building it :excl:

Cpt Dan Blodgett, SASS #75655
Drove by Wednesday afternoon. Cold and windy as hell. Outside mostly painted, still needs to be finished. Too cold to walk over and check the inside. Think the crew had gotten frozen out. I had stopped by Game and Fish to pick up my hunting license.
