Yellowhouse Sam # 25171
Anyone know the make/caliber of the double rifle that Stewart Granger used in King Solomon Mines
Spooky Joe, SASS #24061
Rigby 400/350. Believe MGM later sold that gun at auction, but I'm not sure.
Utah Bob #35998
Couldn't find anything on the gun from the original movie. They used a Holland and Holland Paradox in the 2004 re-make with Patrick Swayze. Seems to me Granger's gun had longer barrels.
Yellowhouse Sam # 25171
OK, thanks. I did some more digging and found out that the double rifle was essentially a 10 or 12 bore Manton. A few bolt rifles as mentioned above were also seen. Granger used a W. Richards .577 NE to bag his own elephant while on location or at a later date....that wasn't very clear. Neat ole movie for sure. Speaking of, I was at the Dallas Safari Club International Convention yesterday and among many others they had a .577 Richards and maybe a Holland&Holland for sale. Couldn't have bought either one with ten credit cards.
