Bridog
Hello All - The Marlin 1894 (non-cowboy) models advertise a 9 shot capacity for the .38/.357. Can you get 10 - .38 rounds in the magazine? Thanks - Bridog
G. P. Cobb
I'd think if it's like the 92 and keep clippping the follower spring it would/could be possible, but I've not done it.......... I'm sure the pros will be along soon. Anyway it worked on my puma 92 .

Driftwood Johnson, SASS #38283
Howdy This is only a concern with the 18 1/2" barreled models like the 1894C and 1894CSS. There are other non-cowboy' models like the 1894 and 1894 Deluxe that have 20" barrels. When I bought Mrs Johnson'w little 1894CS with its 18 1/2" barrel it would hold 10 38 Specials and 9 357 Mags in the magazine without any alteration at all. After trimming the magazine spring AND the follower a little bit it will also now hold 10 357 Mags.

"The newest Marlin 1894C is listed as having a 18.5" barrel (w/ Ballard cut) and a capacity of 9 rounds. Marlin Firearms 1894C I have an "older model 1894CS" with the micro groove barrel that is 18.5" long. At the distances we're shooting, the micro groove barrel hasn't been a problem for me. I cut the magazine spring and now it’s 19-7/8" long, and it functions w/ 10 rds of .357 mag. Your spring cutting adventure may differ." Aloha, Mark PS........start off long and work your way down when cutting your spring. It might not end up at 19-7/8" long.
