Another Nasty Nester

Well, thought I had seen most of the nestable cartridge case combinations which would be injurious to your loading operation when running .45 Colt, but here's one that was especially sinister. Had a .45 Colt case that didn't want to decap. Rather than forcing it, I looked inside, to find a .40 S&W case nested in it, case head of the .40 down against the head of the .45 Colt. A very snug fit, too, as well as being something that certainly was not very visible. Took wrestling with needle nose pliers to get that bugger out of there.

So, watch out for any stray cases that the brass picker elves may have tossed in your Christmas returned-brass stocking!

Good luck for ALL the New Year! GJ

Ok, in the semi-trivia vein, what does nester mean (see title of post), in old west parlance?

Nope, no free gift here.

One of the hammer type bullet pullers would have done a better job of

getting thr 40s&w out. Regards, TJ

Yep, I was walking over to where the impact hammer was, when I spotted the pliers and went after the stuck case. Didn't even scratch up the .45 Colt case, so I guess it saved me five steps.
