That Masked Man
Ode to Utah Bob 'Twas three days before Christmas and all on the Wire were at once captivated by a single desire To see a new Pome spun in mirth and good cheer from one of our own as His birthday drew near And in the Saloon after many libations, we chose to press on with a cheap imitation For tho' our resident Bard could do a much better job, a Masked Man stood in for the stricken Utah Bob: Now let's mix up a cocktail for a winter night's cheer or pour some fresh eggnog or whiskey or beer And to all of our Pards in the wide world of SASS raise up and tink a small toast with your glass For there's many abed, some are sick, some are ill and some barely well thanks to a shot or a pill Let's wish them all Health, Wealth throughout the New Year let's wish Warmth and Love for our pards, and Good Cheer; And tilt back a drink take a quaff if you like, savor or gulp it as suits your delight; But let us remember each of us the reason we celebrate heartily all through this season: There was a swaddling babe on a cold winter's night who came forth to bring us all Wisdom and Light The Wise Men they knew Him by the Star in the skies and we today know Him when we see through His eyes So let's practice forgiveness, find love and redemption whenever we're faced with strife and contention And whether you be in need or able to lend a hand, let's lift each other up all across this great land So if you feel as I do, thank the Lord for each day - and the Friends that we meet along the ol' Cowboy Way - As you set down your glass call out with all your might, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" (So I offer this thought to my pardners in SASS - Please get well, Utah Bob in case my poem sucks ass!!)
