American Rifleman this month has a very interesting story about the Colt 1911 and its use with Metal of Honor winners. I think You would fine it very interesting, I know I did.

I read it last night. Was suprised the last MOH awarded where the recipient used a 1911 was Somolia. I would have thought those soldiers carried the M92 Beretta.

 

BTW, I would choose a 1911 over the M92 any day...

 

Can't wiat until 7:50 tonight -- going to see True Grit!

The transition to the M-92 was well on its way, it started in 1985, in Mogadishu Spec Ops were still using the 1911 as they are still using the 45acp today.

The soldiers who earned the Medal of Honor in Somalia were Delta Force snipers who went in to protect one of the Blackhawk crews after it was shot down.

 

To this day I don't think the D-Boys carry Berretas.

 

I agree with Texas Man. It was a great article in the Rifleman.
