Along with several other folks, my yahoo mail account got hacked, and my address list used to send out spam adverts for kickstand pills. It makes me mad, because folks in my address book are a valued bunch, and I hate it that they get this crap under my name. it ain't me doing it. I changed my yahooo password a bit ago, so maybe it's fixed??? Durn scumbag hackers!

Yahoo mail has been screwed up for awhile,i get a window tellin me not to change something on the browser,i click it and then it goes to my email, they have been updating or something and it is all screwed up.It won't be long before the internet changes to something like China has, places like facebook will be charging for subscriptions and such.Seems like it has been alot of folks from sass and cas type venues that heve been hijacked.

I got tagged as well, but mine came in as a "Window's Update" and looked real enough that I didn't question it at all. It took a couple of minutes like all Windows updates do and even asked for a reboot to finish the update. I was then sunk. Email's gone awry and I almost lost my whole system. Had to take it to the pro's to get it fixed and they were the ones that told me which email/update it was that got me. Smithy.

One of the local cowboys was hit with malware disguised as an Adobe Flash Player update, and the malware was difficult to detect. He used and recommended for removal of the bug: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

So we should ignore any e-mails advertising barrel straightening or more powerful bullets?

Seriously, these hackerpunks are getting cleverer every day. There's even ways for them to embed a virus in a picture file, so even if somebody you know innocently sends you some funny pic, you could catch some cybercootie if you download it. I got that pic of the beagles & chihuahas ... the border patrol one ... and started having problems. Did a scan and sure enough - infected. Deleted the picture and all is well now.

I'm suspicious of anything from anyone I don't know, didn't subscribe to, or has a misspelled title. If you have any doubts, you can expand the view so you can read the full address. Then do a Google search for that address in a different browser tab or window. An old friend "sent" me something the other week, but something about it looked fishy. Ran a search, and it was from some porn site in Australia!

What's really bad about these things that some of them can infiltrate your hard drive, and then send all the info you have there to whoever sent the bug to begin with. So if you do any banking, use your Visa, or any other confidential activities make sure you always do a total delete of your browsing history, passwords, and everything else before closing down.

I thought you might be branching out. Maybe sell a product that negates the need for a "short stroke" kit.

It'sd been happening to MANY folks that I know. I had it a while back, got rid of it and ended up getting it again. I used the freeware "Spybot" to get ride of it one time. The other time I used AVG. Since i "Imunized" with the latest udates, I have not got again (knock on wood).

I would like to see the government of one of the more Gustsy nations.... execute one of these guys in a public way... it might just make some of the GEEK SOBs think twice before sticking it to millions of people.

Jack,

If it's any consolation, it happened to me too - and information security is my business!

John Boy is right, you should make sure and run a thorough virus scan. Then change your Yahoo password, and you should be good.

It's another good reason to use hard-to-guess passwords, preferably long ones!

Happened to me a couple of months back. Every once in a while I get an email from myself advertising for Canadian drugs or some such.

I got one from Jessie Lyn that send me to a "Racy Site"... turned out to be her web page.... WOW!

The good news is, changing the yahoo password seems to have nailed it FOR NOW (at least for four hours, or ya gotta call a doc, har!), the bad news is, trying to change the email passwords on my Droid 2 phone to agree with the changes to the yahoo account was less than smooth (mebbe they got a potion or lotion for that too, har!). Thanks for yer unnerstanding,

Hey AJ merry Christmas. You came up in conversation as the man who might solve this problem for my uncle in law.He has a Marlin not 1884 but similar, he cannot lever the action unless he cocks the hammer first ...sound like something you could help with? Again Merry Christmas!

I suspect I know what is wrong with the Marlin. Yer up yonder in the green woods covered with the white stuff, so if I were you, I'd ask Doc McCoy to have a look see. I bet the hammer is peened badly or a burr raised on the back, bottom part of the bolt. Either that or it's got serious timing issues. Either way, Doc will know what to do.
