Blackjack Zak
How does a cowpoke become a RO III ? You need to be an RO2 first. Make an application through Hipshot - he will send you the application. Then if there is a need in your area (no instructors within a reasonable travelling distance), and you are deemed suitable (teaching ability / temperament, and knowledge of the rules) by the RO Committee, then you may be selected to teach a course at a large match as the first step in your training. If all goes well then you will be qualified. Please also note that any application will be subject to the above questions: is there a need in your area, and are you knowledgeable, and finally "will you make a good instructor" Hope this helps

And IF there ain't no RO III in the cowpokes area and IF the cowpoke is deemed suitable and IF the cowpoke teaches at a major match then the Cowpoke is a RO III? Chickamauga Charlie, SASS #47963
MD, at that point, the applicant will be given the op to teach a class in the presence of a committee member and upon demonstration of the required skills and knowledge will become certified. It doesn't have to be a major match - I was just using that as an example of where you will certainly find a committee member who can sit in the course. You are always welcome canvas the folks in your area who want a course, and if there is sufficient interest, you can see if there is a committee member who can make to your area. An easy option is to travel to a large match in your area, having predetermined if there will be someone there who can sit in with you. EOT, WR and all of the Regional Matches will almost certainly have a committee member there.
