Irish Pat
I got the factory spring off the hammer strut of my Vaquero. It sailed through the air hit the ceiling and is now somewhere behind my freezer. I ordered a new spring from LongHunter, told him my story and he said he beter send two of them..How do you get them back on the hammer strut without injury...Irish Pat, sass 19486
Rowdy Yates, SASS #141
There are many ways but a vice and A fork works pretty good. How to do it should be self explanatory.

Hey I use the fork method too. I push the spring down and ole lady pokes a nail in the hole. Spittoon
Driftwood Johnson, SASS #38283
Howdy They certainly do have a lot of pent up energy when you pull the pin out, don't they? The fork method works. I usually use a needle nosed pliers open just wide enough to straddle the strut. Be sure to secure the strut in a vice. And never put your face in the line of fire of the spring, you could get it right in the eye.
