Spectre Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I hope there are no complaints of rustling now.

Ned Reck Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Yea...whatever. Join SASS Why, who says and what business is it of yours?
Gold Canyon Kid #43974 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Why, who says and what business is it of yours? I think the gent was trying to rebrand Phantom's alias might have had a tad bit to do with it. If he would join SASS he may have found out his chosen alias was already being used.
Phantom, SASS #54973 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Why, who says and what business is it of yours? Ha!!! Well Mr. Reck, I put my MONEY where my MOUTH is. I support the BRAND! I don't just sit around for YEARS and enjoy the benefits of something that is fully supported by others. Cheers! PS: Thanks GCK!
Irish Dave SASS# 5857 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I think the gent was trying to rebrand Phantom's alias ... Have no dog in the fight, but am curious.... Is there evidence of this or just speculation?
Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hello Spectre, I wondered why you were making this comment. So, I did a search and found that Phantom Two (36,118) has a lower SASS number than Phantom (54,973). So, it seems that Phantom Two would not have been a rustler from Phantom. You would not have been a "rustler" unless you were using PhantomII. Even then, it could have been an honest mistake. What is the story? Sorry Ned Reck, inquiring minds like to know the "real story" behind obscure comments. Whatever, Happy Shooting! Regards, Allie Mo
Bo Hunter Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 What if a guy wanted to use a different allias at different shoots as long as they were not already taken?

Allie Mo, SASS No. 25217 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 What if a guy wanted to use a different allias at different shoots as long as they were not already taken? Hi Bo, It would be possible as long as it wasn't a State match or above where SASS membership is required. I know two Rowdy Yates. One is in SASS and the other is not (he runs an OWSS club in Chabot, CA). Both have used the aliases for more than 15 years. Regards, Allie Mo

Sorry Ned Reck, inquiring minds like to know the "real story" behind obscure comments. Whatever, Happy Shooting! Regards, Allie Mo He is not a SASS member. He joined the Wire. Not SASS. And has made it clear he did not want to or ever join or shoot in a SASS match. As we all know. Your SASS alias is a very important part of SASS. And as SASS members we know this. All he was asked to do before was change the name. He got all *&^% about it. Just so we are all clear. That is where Phantom. The real one that is very well known all over the country. I think is coming from. Glad to see you changed your name. That was all that was asked of you.
G. P. Cobb Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I sit on Rowdy Yates............ call him, "the Yates Man". If we closed up our portion of the wire to members only, we wouldn't have this problem?
Anvil Al #59168 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 What if a guy wanted to use a different allias at different shoots as long as they were not already taken? Think there is one person that uses two different alias at SASS matches. Depending on how he wants to dress and shoot for each match. But think he has a paid membership for each. So both could be registered with SASS.

Well, maybe we can convince him that we are a great group and he's missing lots of fun. Happy New Year All! Regards, Allie Mo PS Dang, I missed the fireworks over that one.

Howdy Doody Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) Howdy Allie Mo (no E). Aliases are hard. You no doubt remember shooting with me under another alias and when the Wire started up I made a post and another pard complained because I had the same alias and SASS was forced to give me another whole thing because of the mistake of having two with the same alias. Forcing me into the totally silly alias I have had now since about 2000. Well..............I was just using the SASS alias lookup section, it is handy for new folks, and I now discover that my first alias is open. So the other guy has either died or not re upped or something. Strange. Maybe for 2010 I should re invent myself again and go back to my original alias. I still have the clothes, frock coats, tall black boots and all that I wore in the past. Since I had a full beard in those days too, I could start growing today and save a blade. Sometimes change is good. Back to the topic. The Wire welcomes everyone, but as Phantom pointed out in Phantomese, there are benefits to joining up. I think it is only $45 and you get a badge and all. It is nice to read the Chronicle in the members only section. The pictures are way better than the printed version. So, maybe Spectre should consider joining up if he has the jingle. To me it does not really matter, but it is nice to have just one pard with just one alias, so I can keep it all straight. We should never limit the Wire to memebers only, because newcomers can use it to check out the sport and like Spectre, ask questions. It helps folks decide if cowboy action shooting is for them. The only ones that should stay on the trail are the troll types. Their trail should end under a bridge somewhere. We don't need that or rude behavior either, but all else should be welcome. Phantom is a really great pard and I have known him since I moved to SoCal some 5 years ago or so. That is probably what made him move out and to Texas. I'll bet Spectre would be fun to shoot with too and I hope to one day. It is danged hard to know a person by the typed word. I would rather posse up and have some fun with a pard and then decide. I hope Spectre will fill in his profile. He might live right by one of us and could hook up and try shooting before joining. I have had the pleasure of doing that. Bringing extra guns so a pard could try them at a match. I am known for it in fact. In fact there are some Dammits that made full Dammit status, because I brought BP loads and guns to a night shoot for folks to get qualified. Allie Mo, it did my heart good to see you fire off my night shoot Doodymite shotgun loads. I could not quit grinning. You are a sport. Edited January 8, 2010 by Howdy Doody
Irish Red OToole, #48939 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Have no dog in the fight, but am curious.... Is there evidence of this or just speculation? Yeah, he first came on as "PhantomII". I pointed out to him when I first sawe his alias that there was already a Phantom and folks didn't take kindly to alias-rustling. I guess I ws ignored. Then Phantom saw it/him and the fit hit the shan as it were. I can accept his story of where it came from but he was told about alias-rustling well prior to this being an issue.

And glad that we allow guests to do so and visit the wire. Just that when pointed out about the name Phantom II. He got a little?? Well just say he did not want to change it and said he was not ever planning of shooting or joining SASS. Said he was in it just for fun. Not sure he knows that this is what SASS is all about. His loss. But now that he has changed the name. Hope he asks all the questions he wants and gets good answers to them. And hope he gets out to a SASS match and learns that fun is what it is all about.

Lazarus Longshot, SASS #44254 Life Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Interesting development. I've been a SASS member for almost eight years, and on the wire about the same time. As many of y'all know, my alias is taken from a Robert Heinlein character, "Lazarus Long". Around four years ago, someone logged into the wire with that login. I was a little upset with that, but what the heck. I called the SASS office, and verified that my registered alias as Lazarus Longshot would prevent anyone from acquiring the official alias of Lazarus Long, as it was too close. Made me feel a bit better, anyway. IIRC, I posted this on the thread that "Lazarus Long" posted in. Never heard from that individual again, at least under that login.

Spectre Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 OK here we go for I hope is the last time: When I joined this forum in Aug.2004 I chose the name PhantomII as an homage to my favorite aircraft that I was a mechanic on in the USAF(1966-70). The SASS wire let me register under that alias.I did not have knowledge of phamton as I stated before. So I took some of you alls advice and changed my alias to Spectre.I don't know how many of you all know that Spectre was the name of the F-4 Phantom II when the USAF first adopted it in the ealy 60's.It was known at first as the F-110A Spectre. I don't know why but Phantom is still upset with me with my new alias.Maybe he needs to get that burr out from under his saddle and leave me alone.I do not want to get into a flame war with anyone here! Thank you to those who support me here however few there are of you.

All this started because you got defensive about having to change your alias - stating that you've been here (The Wire) about as long as I have...so if I don't like you using the Alisa Phantom II it's my own problem. I'm over it, glad ya changed your Alias...now I think it would be great if all those folks that have been using the SASS Wire for many years would support the organization by JOINING SASS. Cheers!

But just WHY do you not join SASS and shoot SASS matches???? Have you ever tried it??? You seem to be into the cowboy guns.

Anvil Al #59168 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) http://www.sassnet.com/AClubs-MI-001A.php Here are some clubs in your State. Should be able to find one near you. Don't worry about having everything you need to start. Just go. Let them know you are new. They will help you all they can. Most letting you try there guns. Tell ya what. If you want to go try it. Let me know which club and when. I will make sure someone is there to help you. And I will take care of your first entry fee. No reason not to go now. Also. You do not have to ba a SASS member at the local level. So go try it. Most that do. End up joining. Edited January 8, 2010 by Anvil Al #59168

Spectre, If you want to find clubs in your area, do this: www.sassnet.com Click on the "Affiliated Clubs" link Click on the state of Michigan on the map You'll get a list of all SASS-affiliated clubs in Michigan - most of them will be links that you can click on to find out more about the particular clubs. Depending on what part of Michigan you're from, I highly recommend the shoots run by the Sandusky County Regulators in Ohio - NW Ohio to be exact.
