So I had to ship some brass to a pard from an Escondido post office because our local one is so screwed up. They don’t open until 10:00 and I was the first one there at about 9:50ish. An older woman showed up and rattled the door and said “I can’t believe they’re closed today”. I told her that they would open at 10:00 and she said “How do you know that?” and I told her that it was written on the glass door right in front of her. Then she went on a foul language filled diatribe on why they open so late. A man walked in holding a bin full of packages and I offered him the counter space that I was standing at so he could set the bin down and the mad lady would not move so that he had enough room for the bin so he just sat a corner of the bin on the counter where I was. They opened the door and I offered the lady to go in first because she seemed to be in a real hurry and she said “I’ll wait my turn”. So I went in and was greeted by the first clerk and started the shipping process and this woman came over to the next clerk that had opened up and started chewing him out about the post office not opening until 10:00. The clerk was a young black kid with a mask on and very polite and trying to smooth her over and she would not quiet down so he went and got his supervisor I guess it was and he tried to explain to the lady why they opened later. She then went on another tirade about the kid that waited on her shouldn’t be allowed to wear a mask and the guy told her that the kid was recovering from leukemia and for his health he wore the mask. She didn’t care and said that it wasn’t right. I finished up and really wanted to tell the woman what I thought of her but didn’t and left. I needed a cup of coffee after that so went through a drive thru coffee place that had to close up their walk in cafe because the homeless taking over the tables and restrooms had really been a problem. As I was pulling up to the drive thru a family of 5 with 3 teenage kids walked up to the door and tried to get in. They were right beside my truck and the dad was rattling the door and banging on it trying to get in so I rolled down my window and told him the cafe part was closed and why and he started in on how it shouldn’t make any difference and they should open it up regardless. The kids were pretty cool trying to calm their dad down but the woman on the other hand was getting as mad as the dad was. I rolled up the window and went thru the drive thru and got my coffee. I got to about 1/2 mile from my home and a pickup with a utility bed pulled out in front of me and one of the doors on the utility bed flew open and a couple of Milwaukee drills and other tools came flying out into the road. I honked my horn and flashed my headlights but he just kept going down the road. I finally caught up with him and got him to pull over and told him about the tools and he thanked me and kept going down the road, didn’t even turn around. I turned around and went back to where tools had spilled and there were 2 landscapers gathering up the tools. I told them what happened and probably because they didn’t speak English they finished picking them up and drove off. I took a picture of the truck and license plate but it had a 2021 registration sticker on it so no idea who owns it now.
