FIRST UP, I AM LEARY ABOUT THE holy black. spinal surgery left fingertips numb. I have a large stock of BP given to me by those who tried it and didn't like it. I read 20 year old Venturino & other books that say smokeless puff loads in a BP cartridge gun may be safe, but prematurely wear out guns. I have 2 Merwin Hulberts in 44W and a 75 Remington in 44Rcf. I've been out of the game since '09 and need to find if there are BP substitutes which are clean and non-corrosive to use in my shooters, Pistols and rifles or is there a SAFE smokeless. I am clueless on how to load 12 Ga shells using thick gold Remington hulls with BP. Will "normal" pink or white wads work? Where to find light loads should I try to go black. I would rather use a cleaner substitute or something like Clays or Trailboss powder. TOTALLY ignorant of BP other than shooting my '51 Ubertis. Good to be back in the saddle, but don't know about new powders since 2009. Thanks for any input. Mark "Dirty Doc" Zachary

Hello! I'm new to the sport and reloading for a 45LC to shoot in RNV SASS 45's so wanted to ask for opinions on the best lead for our game? What bullet weight and design is most commonly used? 180g? 200g? 250g ? RNFP? TCFP? Coated? PS Any favorite vendors out there for lead and/or brass?

So I came across a really nice and solid antique English shotgun. It us stamped Laminated Steel. Is this the same as Damascus or is it safe to shoot low power smokeless?

Have some 180 grain hollowbase lead bullets. Have Bullseye, Unique, Titegroup, W231 and Accurate #5 powders. Have always loaded Holy Black in .45 SP. Want to try these cartridges in a Ruger 3 1/2". Anyone got any recipes to share with any of these powders? PM me, please. Thanks, in advance.

I sure somewhere on here is a topic on this, so if you know of, please direct me there! Since the reloading forums have over 600 pages of post, a bit of help would be appreciated. If not, I'm wanting to reload 10 gauge plastic 3 1/2" Winchester hulls, but light, low power, and only 1 to 1 1/4oz. #8 shot for a cowboy load. Has anybody used Clays, or Red Dot for them? I'm having a hard time finding info, and the loads in my Lyman book for 10 gauge are magnum, blow your shoulder out of joint loads. I don't want that! Any suggestions as to where to look, or know of a good load to use?
