When I first started cas in ‘09, I just went out and bought stuff. In 2011 I got a pair of Walkers. Over the years of on and off shooting I struggled with holsters that were either too big or to small for the guns I like to play with. I have all the revolvers I want (I think) and finally ordered my dream leather the end of last summer. It showed up this week. Looks like I’m short one gun. When you shoot Josey Wales every chance you get, one needs options.

Does anyone have a good way to store leather items? I have been keeping my holsters and belts in a small wood box but when I just looked in there I am seeing white fuzzy mold starting. I live in a very humid area and do not have central air. Any thoughts?

It has been fun trying to learn all I can here and in the wire. Keeping an open mind as we learn a new sport is important. After a few weeks of listening asking and debating choices I feel compelled to thank all who have given honest and sometimes critical feedback. I appreciate the brain trust here. Cooncan has been one of the most gracious people I have ever dealt with, let alone on this virtual reality. Thank you my dear, I am looking forward to living up to those fine pistols' capabilities. Little Joe Dalton, it looks like your rig will be a fine place to hang said pistols. Thank you, look forward to seeing these together. The reason I felt the need to post this is the unique culture and supportive trust we enjoy here. It is counterintuitive to other ways of doing business these days. Looking forward to keep this going. To newer members, ( I doubt there are that many more than me, so far) learn what you can. Bring in the savvy you already have with your open mind. See a match and trust what you like. Folks here will support you when you're ready. It is refreshing to do a deal on a virtual/voice handshake. That's all. Just felt compelled to say thank you.

For those of you on this site interested in the history associated with our sport, there is a great new book just published detailing the multitude of saddleries that operated in Montana from the Territorial Times until 1940. Most of you might be familiar with the more recognizable makers such as Moran Brothers, Miles City Saddlery or Al Furstnow, but I was quite impressed with the depth of the research invested especially in some of the lessor know makers. Jay Lyndes is a rancher and noted collector (he even owns Kid Curry’s revolver and one of Teddy Blue Abbot’s guns) and the book is quite impressive from a research perspective as well as being very well written. There are some great photos and a good deal of ephemera to augment them. There is a standard copy as well as a leather-bound copy available directly from Jay @ cowboymt@maverick-cattle.com. I also know Jay will be doing a book signing in Miles City, Montana to coincide with The Miles City Bucking Horse Sale beginning May 14, 2017 which should be on all your bucket lists as it is one big cowboy party!!

Hi everyone! Well like the topic says I'm new to the SASS world. I currently am looking to purchase a full rig and am unsure about holsters to choose. I am looking at on outfit in particular (since he's more local to me and i like to support the locals). He offers three/ four different rigs and I'm kinda down to two types. One is a slightly lowered holster and one is a normal hanging holster. Any advice which one might serve me better? I plan on wearing my rig just a little lower than my belt line. Hi SASS folks, Very new to SASS and lce it already. I have a few questions for anyone willing to share a response about having new gun leathers made for me. 1. I want to ask about the fit of my Ruger SASS Vaqueros in the new leather holster. So should they be really snug that they are form fitted to fit like a glove or should they just able to drop in ( or pull out) and not worry about flying out? Obviously there is a little movement in a stage or can be slight movement. Unlike running and gunning in an IDPA match. 2. I like the looks of a buscadero rig but in reality of gun in and gun out would you think a standard holster on a belt rig to be better in the long run? 3. I've seen some other folks rigs out there and have identified a lot of standard looking rigs. The fact that I want one kinda flashy is that a problem? Thanks in advance for the responses. Good day, I am brand new here and am just getting into the sport. I am looking to purchase my first gun belt and holster and was wondering if any of you have had experience with Cochise Leather in AZ. How would you rate their quality and durability? Or what suggestions may you have for me? As I said, I'm new, ignorant and inexperienced in this area and I'm looking for any tips you may have. Thank you.
