  1. Los Vaqueros, Arizona's oldest cowboy action shooting club will be celebrating their 41st anniversary with two days of fun and shooting in the "town too tough to die", Tombstone, AZ on October 17 & 18 2026. The weekend is split up to two separate matches so shooters can come out for one or both days. The stages will be fast and the targets will be big and close. It's the perfect warm-up for Bordertown, the AZ State Championship the following week. The weekend will also include a swap meet, so bring along gear and guns to trade or sell. Applications and waivers are available on the Los Vaqueros website, www.losvaqueros.org. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask or contact Wily Yankee at wily.yankee@live.com.
  2. I’m signed up as a Lady Outlaw. I haven’t shot that category yet. Who else is signed up for Outlaw? Are we all going to be on the same posse?
  3. Congratulations to Cody James on his overall Bordertown win! Cody is a great exemplar of the sport and all my kids really look up to him. And boy can he shoot!!
  4. First off, I know it's July and I'm talking about the May Chronicle. I wanted to thank Frederic Jackson Turner for a great article on Bordertown. I've read it a couple, three times now, just letting it all sink in. The thanks that I'm sending is two fold. First, as a new board member for Bordertown, it was a good write up. Secondly and most importantly, thanks for opening my eyes a bit about Bordertown. I've shot at Bordertown for the last three years. This last year the targets were so close that I had a hard time spotting for the shooters. I was thinking "targets need to be moved back a bit". However, after reading FJTs article about what shooters were expecting and getting, it made me realize that the fast, upclose targets are what the shooters come for again and again. The close targets and fast sequences are what make Bordertown. I get it now. Every shoot is a bit different. Some put the targets out a bit, some shrink the targets, and Bordertown enlarges the targets and puts them right up close. Thanks again from a guy that is making the transition to the dark side, Barry Sloe
