  1. This actually happened to me (fortunately during a warmup stage) at EOT 2 or 3 years back. I was focused on covering ground & had a brain fart with the pistols. Without too much detail, fired 2 rounds & took a step with both feet. Hammer was down on spent round & not cocked until the new location of both my feet. Is it a SDQ already with no options? Or, since I haven't fired it yet at the new location, could I move the cylinder so the hammer is on either open or spent round, take the 3 (or 8?) misses & move onto the other guns? And, lastly, could I fix it as just described & shoot the 2nd pistol, then moving on to the other guns?
  2. Ok so from what I’ve seen and read, almost everybody uses a pair of pistols, but can you get by with only one? The club I’m shooting with this weekend told me that if you don’t have something you can always borrow, but to truly be competitive do I need 2? Also, how many rounds should I bring with me? Both my pistol and rifle are the same caliber so that makes it easy. Thanks yall.
  3. It has been fun trying to learn all I can here and in the wire. Keeping an open mind as we learn a new sport is important. After a few weeks of listening asking and debating choices I feel compelled to thank all who have given honest and sometimes critical feedback. I appreciate the brain trust here. Cooncan has been one of the most gracious people I have ever dealt with, let alone on this virtual reality. Thank you my dear, I am looking forward to living up to those fine pistols' capabilities. Little Joe Dalton, it looks like your rig will be a fine place to hang said pistols. Thank you, look forward to seeing these together. The reason I felt the need to post this is the unique culture and supportive trust we enjoy here. It is counterintuitive to other ways of doing business these days. Looking forward to keep this going. To newer members, ( I doubt there are that many more than me, so far) learn what you can. Bring in the savvy you already have with your open mind. See a match and trust what you like. Folks here will support you when you're ready. It is refreshing to do a deal on a virtual/voice handshake. That's all. Just felt compelled to say thank you.
  4. A friend and I are currently in the planning stages of putting together a cross-country horseback trip from Nashville to Southern California (www.villainsofnash.com). San Juan Capistrano to be exact...our goal is to donate at least 3 horses to Bethany's Gait (www.bethanysgait.org) a ranch that works with troubled youth and kids from broken homes. We plan on making the trek next April and have high hopes of filming a documentary about the trip, as well as a book deal after the fact about why people don't actually step out and follow their dreams. We are also planning a motorcycle trip back as the "flip-side" or view of the modern day cowboy. I'm trying to pass the word around and gain as much knowledge, understanding, sponsorship, and general wisdom on all things related to the trip...all of which is out of my current field of depth. Our goal is to carry a rifle, preferably a Winchester lever action...as well as a single shot revolving pistol apiece. I need to know much more about everything involved with those guns, as well as what kind of regulations/stipulations would ensue as far as carrying that sort thing across all states west of TN. I also, am trying to see what kind of response their might be from clubs, private sponsors and exchanges to donate either guns, ammunition, or raise support to pay for hunting licenses in each state we cross, as we will be camping and hunting and fishing to supply our food from what we can't have donated from the Jerky and Trail Mix companies we're currently pitching to. Regardless, I appreciate your time and would love to hear any feedback you migh have...stories of what you dreamt of being when you were young, what you've experienced in your pursuit of your dreams, gun knowledge, trail knowledge, and words of encouragement or questions are all more than welcome. Thanks, -Kyle Norwood
