A club member has asked me (as his TG) to inquire about CC being allowed to shoot gunfighter style. This would not be a separate category, just be allowed much the same as GF is an allowed style in BW. Has this issued ever been discussed in the past? Opinions?

Howdy all, I've decided to give Gunfighter a go. Anyone got any tips for me? I know it's all about practice, practice and practice but is there anything that seasoned Gunfighters learnt on the journey that a greenhorn like me might wanna take on board? Shovel

Got another question for the seasoned wire vets: Is it 'legal' for a gunfighter to have one holster as a straight draw (on the right) and one holster which is a reverse draw (on the left)? I observed this the other day and it did not look very safe to me. I know little to nothing about shooting gunfighter so I am know I am out of my depth. The shooter observed was somewhat of a novice to our sport and I did not feel safe while timing him. Am I completely paranoid here? Would it be safer if both were the same draw? I have observed a few really good gunfighters who smoothly execute a reverse draw on both guns like a well choreographed ballet. It was not the case this time. During a fun shoot today, we had a couple disagreements; Just looking for some input: No problem with rifle or shotgun, but question with pistol direction: Target placement for pistol is 3 targets (P1-P3) on the left separated by 2 shotgun knockdowns and then 3 targets (P4-P6) on the right Pistol instruction for stage reads: “With left pistol, engage targets (P1, P2, P3) in that order, then engage any 2 targets on the right (P4-P6) With right pistol, engage 3 targets on the right (P6, P5, P4) in that order, then engage any 2 targets on the left (P1-P3) Gunfighter comes to stage and shoots:(L= left pistol R= Right pistol) L –P1, R -P6, L- P2, R- P5, L- P3, R- P4, L- P4, R- P3, L -P5, R -P4. Spotter calls Procedural and states gunfighter should have shot it double duelist; left pistol then right pistol. I disagree, but I am not a gunfighter. Spotter was adamant. I went by the miss flow chart: Did Shooter hit the correct type target with legally required ammo YES Assess misses Did shooter engage targets in correct order : (YES, left targets hit with left pistol in correct sequence, right targets hit with right pistol in correct sequence) No further call Am I missing something? Direction does not specify that shooter MUST engage left targets first, nor does it say that left and right pistols MUST be shot separately. Instructions did not state that stage could not be shot gunfighter. Thoughts?

Hi all, I've been shooting Gunfighter for the last couple of years and this is the first time I've video'ed myself shooting. I now realise I flinch when shooting my pistols. I've read the way to cure it is to dry fire....lots. However would this just reinforce bad habits? My grip is kind of loose, so should my grip be tighter? Should I apply a bit of heel in my grip to compensate? Here's my video. As you can see I anticipate the recoil and point the muzzle down. This explains why my misses all tend to be low of the target. Thanks for your advice.

I've been shooting Frontiersman and FCD for the last few years with pretty good success but lately it seems I have trouble staying motivated. Well, I shot my first match as a gunfighter this weekend and had a BLAST!! I don't think I'll ever shoot one gun at a time again! All you GF shooters have been harboring the best secret in SASS. I have decided that I will go with Mernickle for my next rig. For those that don't know, Mernickle has a heck of an inventory, so I could use some help with the selection process. I have basically three criteria and not necessarily in this order. First, a good rig for gunfighter. I did speak in detail with Bob and the three we talked about the most are the gunfighter series (GF1 Ref1), the CA5-5 duel straight side, and the CA6-6, which is not shown on the website, but is identical to the CA5-5 only with the CA6 cant. I have never used a cant holster before so I wonder how effective they really are or if it even matters much. I shoot full 45 Colt BP loads so I am not overly obsessed with gaining every millisecond of speed. Second, I shoot Colts so I do want some protection for them. From what I understand, all three, and indeed all of Mernickle holsters should fit that bill. The GF series are steel lined, so I am not sure if that is better or worse or if it matters at all for the protection of the finish. Third, I want a rig that looks really, really, cool. I tend to fall in the looks good first, shoots good second crowd. While I love the looks of both the CA5 and CA6, I am not overly fond of the way the GF series looks. So for any of you fellow gunfighters out there, which would you recommend? If any? Perhaps you think there is a better design. I would prefer to stick with the Mernickle brand because of all they do for sass and sass shooters, so talking me out of the brand might be difficult, but I am certainly ready to listen to the reasons behind another style that would fit the above criteria. As always, thanks for the sass wire help. I have never been dissatisfied with any gear decision I have made after consulting the wire.

Hi pards, I have been officially converted. Last weekend was my second match as a Gunfighter, with it ending with my first clean stage. There's only 2 of us in our club that shoot gunfighter, with the other one giving me lots of pointers. I was shooting Double Duelist for a few months before going Gunfighter. To me it seems more authentic and also I know I'll never be as fast as the frontrunners with this modern 2 handed pistol shooting malarky. I'm also now very tempted to shoot the holy black... I seem to recall several months ago there were a few threads on Gunfighter techniques, however I can't seem to find it anymore. Can anyone give me a few pointers with those threads? Thanks

I'm trying to figure out aftermarket grip options for a Ruger Single Six birdshead in .32 H&R Mag. I'm looking at Eagle's gunfighter grips, having handled them in the past on a plowhandled Vaquero. I emailed Eagle to ask if they had gunfighter grips for the Single Six birdshead and their answer was sort of vague- simply that their gunfighter grips would fit Ruger guns. So, does anyone know if Eagle's grips will fit this gun? Is the grip frame the same as the one for the birdshead Vaquero (I don't have one for comparison...), or are they sized differently?

today on double tap targets there were several occasions when they were almost simultaneous shots on the same target. The ro made the call that these were minor safety violations. But did not inform the shooter that they had been called as safeties until the second time when he declared a stage DQ for two minor safety violations. I have been shooting gun fighters since the spring and it is a problem on double taps to space the shots sense to do so im put a delay in the action. opinions please.
