  1. I purchased an AWA .38spl lightning and found that it is not feeding properly and also jamming. I would like to tear it down but I am fearful of doing so without a schematic or disassembly manual. If any of you have either please let me know. Smart Asterisk SmartAsterisk@outlook.com

    .38 or .45

Hello. This is probably a previously-covered topic, but I haven't been here in a long time, so I've lost track. I wanted to collect ideas on .45 vs. .38 use in SASS. I have both in revolver, but my two rifles are both .45. I like them all, but truth is, I'm not shooting them since my husband passed in '12. I'd like to keep a set for those occasional times when I may go shoot, but I'm wondering why my safe is so full, at this time. Yes, it's "Whatever (I) like best," but sometimes when people express opinions, it helps me think. Thank you Aunt Jen 16224
  3. I was reading a recent article on pocket pistols in True West and had a thought (a dangerous proposition in and of itself) that I'd like to get opinions on: Take the idea of Dallas Stoudenmire's snub-nosed 1860 Army conversion, but apply it to an 1862 Pocket Police. I've got an Uberti .36 Pocket Police, but it's brass-framed so I'd have to get a steel frame to start. I think that with the barrel cut down to 2"-3" it would be a good little pistol to carry when my 1911 isn't an option. Here's what I could use input on: -I'd like to work with a machinist friend of mine to make this a full conversion rather than using a conversion cylinder. Would .38 Colt or .38 Special work for that? Are there other options I'm just not familiar with? -What do folks think the recoil on something like this would be? I've fired a S&W .38 snubbie without issue, but I'm guessing my idea would not have as much heft. -Would it be worth the time and money? I know that's a loaded (pardon the pun) question, as a lot of the stuff we cowboys do isn't financially viable but is a lot of fun, but I do have to watch my dollars and cents right now. -Any other suggestions? No rush, just something I'm kicking around and wanted to hear what other cowboys and cowgirls thought. Thanks, and adios!
  4. Some insight and experience would be appreciated since the website doesnt show anything for this bullet. I also realize lighter loads are preferable, so it makes more sense to know what works for others and maybe i can minimize somw trial & error. thanks!
