  1. We have shipped with UPS, USPS and FedEx over the last 25 years. I've determined it completely depends on the local distribution center or individual driver at your location. For now, we have less overall trouble with FedEx here. But that doesn't mean it's best in your area. When we ship, we have no idea what's good at your location. All I know, is they can all be bad, good or great. In a lot of cases, individual responsibility isn't something people take seriously these days. Some individuals just don't give a rip....

  2. Dred,

This is the area I emailed you about on the gate. Take about .02 from the bottom of the gate in between the arrows. Think this will solve your loading problem. Since the rifle is 15+ years old, it's possible it could be something else but this is the best place to start and it won't hurt a thing.

  3. No sir,

You can cut two coils from the standard length spring to achieve the same tension with the internal lock.

If someone orders the spring set and wants the shorter springs, you can put that in the comment section of the order and we'll cut them and turn the ends for you.

    Thank you,

    Long Hunter

  4. I've sold a lot of guns on GunBroker over the years. Just add 10% over the minimum amount you'll take. Also sold several on Guns International. I'll put higher end antique or hard to get guns there. They are not an auction site so list it for what you want for the gun. Again, I'll add 10% to my bottom price. You'll get emailed offers from customers.

The important thing is to give a very accurate description and a lot of decent pictures on both websites. In the description, I'll always rate the guns condition a little less than what it actually is and give the customer a three day inspection. Between my old and new accounts, I've probably sold 700-800 guns and never had one returned.

  5. Howdy,

We have changed our Ruger spring sets as of this notice. The kits include a 15 and 17 pound hammer spring, an increase cross pin cylinder latch spring and a 32 and 40 ounce trigger spring. On the new Vaqueros and Blackhawks coming in, the 32oz spring will give you approximately a 1.75lb trigger pull. The 40oz will give you a 2.5lb trigger pull.

If you have an older Vaquero with the internal lock, cut two coils off the standard length hammer springs to equal their weight.

  6. One of the big turnoff's to SASS is the clothing "You know what's. Thanks for the new term Jake. :-)

If you want to grow this game, relax and have fun and leave people alone to have their fun. No sleeves = no violation. Bull looks great in that getup and has the frame to support it. I'm calling it a "C" Western costume. Great job Bull on creating a new category. :-)

Back in 2005, one of the higher ups in SASS (not Wild Bunch) came up to me and my wife after shooting EOT on the second day and asked me when I was going to stop dressing like a storekeeper. I had on lace up Ropers, Wahmaker pants, leather braces, Scully shirt, a garter on each arm and my "Gus" cowboy hat. My answer to that person was, whenever you start minding your own ******* business. These clothing "You know what's" are and always have derailed new shooters from coming into the game.

  7. FYI: I achieve the the longer 38sp ammo by using a Dillon taper crimp die and crimping the round at the top of the lube ring. The edge of the brass is right below where the lube ring starts and results in no brass edge on the loaded round. They feed like butter in the 1873's/66's and Marlins. Also use the same ammo in the revolvers. Need to increase the powder charge about .2-.3 if you go from crimp ring to lube ring.

  8. Ditto to what Widder said. Another thing to check is the floorplate. The inside of the floorplate can get beat out. The picture is of a brand new Ruger Marlin already showing where is will eventfully get beat out. Look at the inside of your floorplate and see if it is worn. If it is, spot weld those spots and finish it down to original profile. Your problem could be these worn spots are allowing the carrier to drop to low. Same thing as the bottom screw being loose and the floorplate dropping.

Jim,  you know he is waiting to give you, Todd,  and me a hard time. Miss Ann having his back.

Plus Non-Stop would catch a little of Goody's humor too. No one was left out. Miss Ann also had Todd's and my back. Yours........not so much. :-) We a lot of fun back in those days.

  10. Hate to hear that Billy,

Goody was always fun to be around and full of humor. He'll be missed.

    Prayers up for the family.

    Sorry Jim,

I thought I'd remembered on the SASS site a year or so ago you were retiring to do the things you like to do and spend more time with family and friend.

    Rob

    No problem Rob,

I stopped selling and working on shotguns, black powder revolvers and 1911's as of last April. Slowed it down a little to spend more time with my family. I still do what's listed on the website. Just finished a couple of new Ruger Marlin 1894's in .357/38sp for Holly Terror and her husband. They are nice guns.

    Thanks

I could be wrong, but I thought Jim AKA Long Hunter retired from doing action work. He still sells parts.

I still work on Marlin's, 73/66's and cartridge revolvers plus sell parts. Not sure where this is coming from but you're not the first. It's obvious from the our website we sell tuned guns and perform action work.
