  1. Someone hacked up the one on my first year production Win 92 so need a "new" one. Anyone have one, or information on where I might find one? I've done a rather extensive search on the internet but no luck yet. Ones for the Miroku Winchesters are available but I have no idea if they would fit and work correctly. Any information is appreciated.
  2. Simmons in Olathe Kansas used to be a go-to for M12's. I'm not sure but I seem to remember that they did vent ribs for Winchester, I know they did one for me on a 20 gauge M12. Also barrel fitting, etc. You'd need to contact them as I didn't see that work on their website anymore but they probably still do it.
  3. No, ship the conversion cylinders separately.
  4. Shiloh makes some very fine rifles! I have a Browning 1885 BPCR in both .45-70 and .40-65. I'd suggest you take a look at a BPCR in .45-70. Super rifles and come with high quality vernier sights that should be good for your purposes. As I recall, they were all made with top quality Badger barrels. Mine shoots great!
  5. Military often retire in their late 30's or a bit later. They're familiar with range rules and safety issues, and most take instruction well. It's a good group to target if you get that opportunity. I'm retired military myself.
  6. I use .38 Special brass only in my 92 Rossi and my Pietta GW II's. I use two different bullet weights but same powder charge. The '92 gets 147 grain TC bullets seated out to about 1.55" and the revolvers get 125 gr bullets. I use a separate seater and crimper dies and only have to adjust the bullet seating die when swapping bullets. Everything else stays the same. .38 Special brass is so plentiful. I have .357 brass but have never had any problems with this setup so I'll save those for some other uses, like hunting loads. By the way, both of the bullets I use are coated, mostly to make sure there's no leading in the rifle barrel (24"). FWIW, I'm also using Win 244 powder with a light charge and it's been working perfectly for me.
  7. I like Southern Shine media instead of pins for tumbling. They are much smaller and don't clog the flash hole, and are easily removed with a spin in water. I use the Frankfort Arsenal wet/dry media separator, and rinse a couple of times to remove pins and soap. Has been working very well for me for several years now and the media seems to be lasting virtually forever as I rarely lose any of the small chips. YMMV. Also, I have no financial interest in either Southern Shine or Frankfort Arsenal, I'm just a satisfied customer.
  8. Abiline, I have an 8" nickle Python also, they don't seem to be very common.
  9. Numrich just announced that they're making new parts for some of the older Marlin rifles. I'd check with them first. I agree with Widder, sounds like the shell stop has lost it's temper.
  10. Try a truncated cone bullet... seat it to your preferred overall length and crimp. They run perfectly through my .357/.38 Special rifle.
  11. I've been using Win 244 with a light load in .38 with 125 grain bullets with good results. It's widely available and (IMHO) better suited for CAS loads. If it's available in your area you might give it a try. Usually has a very good price tag on it.
  12. 200 grain RNFP from just about anyone, crimp in crimping groove and they run fine through my Marlin and 1866. Also, if your cases start splitting along the case walls consider an older "steel" die instead of the carbide die. I personally think the carbide dies size the cases too much. Yup, extra work but worth it for me. I do the same with .35/.357's as well. Just my peculiar OCD.
  13. I've been using Win 244 in my .38 Special loads for both 125 and 147 grain bullets (pistol and rifle respectively), same charge for both. I believe it's 3.2 grains. Start at lowest recommended, of course. 244 seems to be readily available and pretty inexpensive, and burns clean for me. Good luck.

    BPCR

I used to shoot BPCR at a range just outside St. Louis. Was an excellent range. I don't know if they're still shooting there.
  15. I've been shooting Ginex in rifle and pistol with no issues at all. Rifle pistols are out-of-the-box Pietta GW-II's (with the light hammer springs). All good. I bought several thousand a couple of years ago when I couldn't find anything.. got lucky on these and as mentioned, they're working fine for me. Forgot to mention these are SPP.
  16. Don't have a 650, but have torn down and cleaned/lubed my 2 550's and SDB. They slowly get dirty/dusty/dry over time, and after cleaning and oil and grease it's amazing how much better they seem to work!
  17. Didn't see the Buccaneer Regulators in Leland, NC on the map... but then my eyes aren't that good....
