  1. The guy with the hand on the knee was forced to do so by the other guy holding a gun to his head.
  2. Not sure if anybody ever remembers this, but the late Andy Rooney (from "60 Minutes" fame) who was in the war with Patton, hated him.
  3. I met a guy that claims that he bought an oil painting from Buck Taylor. Didn't see the pic, but have no reason to believe he didn't buy it.
  4. If you shoulder-fired that larger round, I am just betting that the recoil would not be moderate. Just guessing.
  5. I saw an AR180 at a gun show one time. Looked closely to see if it was "gold-plated" because of the price-tag. About the M16, I read an article on it that referred to its introduction in Vietnam was initially referred as the "woodchuck wars", mainly because of the much smaller round than the Garand. Stoner may have been good, but in my research there are much better designers over the years: Yisrael Galili – designer of the IMI Galil and the Uzi SMG. Victor Mikhailovich Kalashnikov – Designer of the AK47 & AK74. But after ALL of my studies, the greatest of all time: John Moses Browning who surpasses them all. His brilliant designs are too numerous to clutter up this fine thread.
  6. Eugene Stoner, who also developed the M16, thought differently. He designed the AR18 to replace the M16. After the thread about the Springfield '03, I have been researching rifle designers. Stoner ranks right on up there.
  7. Yeah. If you like eating cardboard pellets.
  8. No. Most of it is at the bottom of a lake where I had a boating accident.
  9. Not knowing much about rifles, especially military firearms, I was wondering if an '03 is similar to the rifle carried by Sgt. Alvin York? Just got through a great movie about him that I taped from the AMC channel. Gary Cooper was great. The rifle in the movie is a bolt action. Thanks in advance for the answer.
  10. I was hoping that it was not venereal disease.
  11. I would immediately call a wrecker service or a tow truck for "pickup".
  12. Good post. I recently saw a great documentary about the USS Intrepid on TV (was either on AHC or The Smithsonian channel, can't remember which). Thanks!
