  1. Someone should stampede a herd of cattle through that camp.
  2. Cooking thermometers are your friend. As a guesstimate, with nothing else to guide me, I would cook the reduced size dish to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. At least I would be sure it was hot enough to kill any pathogens (bacteria, viruses, fungal spores, and parasites) that might be present. And I could use that attempt to guide future cooking parameters.
  3. Ridden by too many overweight SASS members:
  4. Turn on the "Voice Memo" app on your phone. Play a few bars and post the memo here on the wire. I think it will post as an MP3 file. We would love to hear you!
  5. Thanks for posting this. I didn't know that Epiphone made such top end guitars. I always thought they were cheapies. Have fun with it!
  6. Top of the shoulder is legal, but it's up to the referee; like a close ball/strike call in baseball.
  7. A man's gotta try to keep'em happy.
  8. I received a letter from an "Associate (city) Planner" about a rezoning appeal for a house in my neighborhood. Currently this is a Residential-Single Family neighborhood. The owner of a house nearby wants to have the house designated as Short-Term Rental, which is for periods of less than 30 consecutive days and is not owner occupied. The letter invites property owners in the area to attend the City Council meeting dealing with the appeal and express their views. I would not want to attend such a meeting without doing some research. Who rents a house for 30 days or less? It sounds like maybe a halfway house for addicts or parolees, maybe an Air BNB? What's the best way to find out who owns the house and their intentions? Who would monitor the 30-day rental period, and what would be the consequences of renting it for longer periods? Anything else I should find out? UPDATE 4/22: Thanks to your input and encouragement I was one of 3 speakers who spoke at tonight's City Council meeting in opposition to allowing a short term rental in our neighborhood. No one spoke in support of the re-zoning. Council agreed; 8-0 against allowing the short term rental. I appreciated your comments and wove them into a persuasive narrative. Can't say it was fun, but it was a unique experience!
  9. The sheer number of choices is a testament to how important reloading, and shooting in general, was at that time in our history. How far we have come...
  10. I worked summers at a lumberyard from '62 to '65. We sold and delivered a lot of vermiculite for attic insulation. Messy stuff when a bag broke open unexpectedly. I played with asbestos siding scraps in a vacant lot, creating towns for model cars. I guess I am doomed.
  11. I think the guy holding the rifle is a werewolf himself! Geez that's a hairy hand!
  12. success: being paid enough taxpayer money to survive. Unfortunately.
  13. Sadly, someone will buy it, which encourages more to be produced. Sigh...
  14. She is one of the original DEI success stories. Obviously.
