I still think that eating snails had to have started as a dare between cavemen.
Seriously, who would ever look at a snail and think, 'Hey, that looks like it could be pretty tasty"?
What about the first brave person to chug down on an oyster!

You ain't had fun until you have to 3-Wire a M385 X 0.5 thread while the part is still in the lathe. Threaded length was only about 12mm. Used .018" wires and 40 inch calipers. Fun times.
What was that for?

True enough. I like mine to be a nice shiny car. BUT!! It only takes Seven Minutes, Forty Seconds inna car wash. Shiny brass takes HOW LONG???
Not long really, its not like your sitting there whilst the machine is doing its thing.
Main two reasons for me going to wet tumbling is that my nose and throat used to burn separating brass from walnut/corn cob, lot of nasties accumulating in there.
Wet tumbling alleviated that problem with the benefit of brilliantly shining up the insides that allows me to easily visibly check for powder (habit I have always done even with Dillon powder alarm).-

I have found my stained brass shoots just as good as that "Bright" stuff. Wash, Dry, 30 Minutes inna Lizard Litter - DONE.
Dirty cars also get you from A to B just fine ..... but a lot of folks take pride in having a clean shiny car.

Now we just need America to go metric and drop UNC, UNF, UNEF, UNS and whatnot and GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!!!!

4-inch/50-caliber gun
in SASS Wire Saloon

In the WWII submarine warfare book that I am currently enjoying reading, the subs have 4-inch/50-caliber gun deck guns.
I couldn't work out what "4-inch/50-caliber guns" where till I googled.....still a bit puzzled about the 50 caliber designation that the barrel is '50 calibers long'.
