  1. Interested in trading my 686 s&w 2."(?) stainless 357 for a similar or smaller 32. (32 long, 32 HR mag, 327 mag or some combination). My wife has tiny hands and so we are going a different route than this great firearm. It has about 500 rounds through it, almost all 38 special.  I screwed up the grips so they are functional but a little wonky. See pics. The action and trigger are great and it has a plug for the safety hole. (I have the case and safety parts if you want to put them back in.)  Bought the revolver new about 3 years ago.  Great shooter but I have another 686 I am keeping, its more of a classic. I am willing to keep the gun but it is too nice to sit and never get shot so I will run it by here for a few days. If you have something to trade, or wish you had gotten a 357 instead of what you have, make me an offer. I feel like as a used gun it has a solid $700-750 value in trade or sale.

    Thanks for looking.

You are correct, only two terms consecutively at a time. After his first two terms he had Medvedev step in for a term. He then served two more terms and now ignores the formality.

so much for a constitution… perhaps he had it changed, like Lukashenko of Belarus did.

He had it changed. Russian democracy.

  3. I bought a used 624 s&w that had some rust under the grips. Stainless will rust, just not easily and generally just surface.

    Easy button, hard button.

    Easy:

Shoot and clean. It's a Ruger I doubt the rings will effect it any. But you wanted new and didn't quite get it. Very pragmatic choice and you are shooting right away.

    Hard:

Send it back. It is not what you purchased. Getting a pristine stainless Blackhawk you could shoot it the rest of your life and never get those rings. It will still be a clean bore when your people inherit it. Good solution based on principle, but probably a 60-90 day delay.

    I don't know which I would choose.

SASS spent years going after young shooters. They have no money  can not own firearms and in some states they are not allowed to touch a firearm. Most will reach college age and be gone or find their first love and really be gone. IMHO

Agreed. Even if you go the cheapest route to start out; 2 Wranglers=$420, Stoeger 12 gauge $500, Henry 22 lever $350, total $1290. And that's guns that you probably replace except the shotgun plus reliading for ammo etc. (I shoot 22s a lot but don't really like it. Everyone likes their 'real' guns.) Yeah. Dont be afraid to go for people 50 and up. Love the youngers but the cost is real. One thing I found a little off-putting was the costuming. Be sure and show some people, or have some people at your table that are costumed in just jeans and a long-sleeve Henley or regular western shirt. Same for the ladies. I like the costuming now but as an outsider I wasn't sure what to think about it.

  5. Big shout out to the Texas Trouble Makers, Old Fort Parker Patriots, Oakwood Outlaws, and Nomad's Tactical range!  Last week we did a five day, 2A CAS  class for 23 students from/at the MS and HS in which I teach. Did NRA Basic Pistol Monday, shot it Tuesday at Nomads then bought them all Cowboy hats on the way home. (Boot Barn gave us %15 off...and the students were on a budget!) Wednesday CAS and 22 challenge at the Trouble Makers. Thursday at Fort Parker, then ended at Oakwood. We had an awards ceremony with hotdogs at Oakwood. First time some of the students had touched a gun, and some had never cooked beef hotdogs over a fire before! Good week, great people. I call it a CAS Teen Limited match=Limited because everyone shoots 2 handed, 22 pistols and rifles, then sxs 12. Three stages each place with a 'team' stage.  Three groups; older men, younger men, and ladies. Next time we do it I think we will at least invite any 18 and unders who want too, to join us. This is our 2nd time. Went from 9 two years ago to over 20 this time. Some pics below. See Oakwood for more and better pics.

Btw all the local people at the CAS clubs volunteered their time, some brought their own guns, prizes, food...all out of the goodness of their hearts. This post is the only thanks they get and they didn't even ask for it!  Super people. God is good!

The enlisted need quality officers. You must be one of them since 1 star was offered to you. You didn't lobby for it!

  7. I have a 3.5? Barrel on a Vaquero 44 and I really like it. I want to start saving up to put a shorter barrel on my 45 NV. Any ideas where I can find one or someone who will do the work?  Cost?  My NV 45 is stainless.

    Thanks!

  8. Been an Old Vaquero guy but I recently got my first New Vaquero. 45 colt/45acp stainless. Like the slightly smaller frame an LOVE the 'index-on-the-cylinder' feature, or just take it out and free spin. Super easy. Opened the gate and...oh well the previous owner must have already taken out the screw and plunger because the cylinder goes both ways.

Found my dream 44, Ruger stainless "New Vaquero" with 3.5" barrel and birdshead. Decided to take out the indexing screw to make it like my 45. Take it out...no free spin. Look at my 45, which does free spin, and...the indexing screw and plunger are still in, but it free spins!  I didn't take out the 45 because it is spinning, when it shouldn't, but took out and replaced the one in the 44 several times. Tried setting the screw to different depth. No joy. No free spin. I am fine without the free spin but I am curious about why the two revolvers seem to function so differently. The 44 is NV in name only as it is the OV frame, but it has the screw and plunger.

The 45 IS a NV and has the screw and plunger yet it DOES free spin. Below are pics. You can see that the 44 plunger protrudes further than the 45 but why won't it free spin when its out...and why does the 45free spin when its in?

    Thoughts?

(The 44 has my orange stick coming from the back, the 45 in front.)

What does the front sight look like under the brass?  Was it shaved?

( I also noticed the price drops on GB; 45 colt also dropped.)

It was filed down.  Not ridiculously low but I had some misses so I took it to the range and with my loads It was hitting low.  I put in the brass cover and did not have to file at all to get it back on target...with my loads.

  10. I am getting out of the 44-40 business, keeping my 44mags. Bought this gun off of gunbroker. Bluing and case hardening looks great on the gun. There are some scratches on the frame where it says Ruger.  See the pic.  Throats have been opened but the cylinders on this gun are tighter than on the Uberti I shot it with.  Might want to hone them some.  I never shot Black Powder in them. The springs are what was it when I bought it but having bought new Rugers these are lighter. Feels like about 19#?  I have been watching these on gunbroker. Bad for me they are not selling for a lot. I have seen them NOT sell for $650 so...here are the options for buying this great revolver.  All prices include shipping. My shipping is $30. If you live somewhere that cost much more than that we may need to adjust the cost. I feel like I could sell the 44mag cylinder for $150-200 so that will be reflected in my prices.  The 44mag cylinder came in a bag of parts and had some rust I cleaned it up and cold blued the effected areas. See the pic for the worst spot on the cylinder.

Revolver alone, no 44mag cylinder $570

    Revolver with both cylinders $690

Revolver with 44-40 only and the 200 pieces of unfired starline brass $650

Revolver both cylinders and brass $765

Gun ships with your choice of grips, wooden one on the gun or the fake ivory one. Check the picture. The white grips have the Ruger emblem crooked on one side.

If gun alone sells I will post the other items seperately but not until the gun sells. Thanks for looking!  I am in East Texas if you want a ftf.
