  1. I couldn't get either of my two grandsons interested either even though I had purchased everything they might need. They thought they were lovers? One is now in Med School, but that is not the same.
  2. I have nine CodyMatics, had more, but have sold some. I normally take my rifles right to Cody's shop, or home. Cody works alone, so no crew. He is not associated with Taylors. His wife used to work there and Cody ordered many rifles through them. He used to do their gun smithing, but an in-law started doing their work. Cody only gets involved when he has to correct some of their work. I have had no issues with any of these CodyMatic Rifles. One had an ejector break and Cody fixed it, no charge. He has a lifetime warrantee on his work. Cody does my 45LC and 357 Mag rifles, I do my own 44-40s. I used to teach Machine Shop at our local Vo-Tech. I only shoot black powder in my three 44-40s and as a Cattle Baron, I am not getting any faster. I just want a good functioning rifle which I can consider being reliable.
  3. For those that live in the Tropical Ohio Tusco Area, I am hoping for a weekend heatwave for Saturday. Here in WV we have severe thunder storms with multiple flooded areas. The forecast is for more snow Thursday and Friday. I am still waiting for Spring to be sprung and a good shooting day for Saturday.
  4. This is the 1st time I have heard that. I understood that Hogdon simply got tired of jumping through all of the hoops from Uncle Sam. Georgia Arms burned last Summer and Kinematics blew up before that, but I had not heard that about the GOEX Plant. I believe ESTES even bought some of Hogdon's equipment in order to start production.
  5. Thank you for your responses. That is what I was hoping to hear.
  6. I know ESTES is supposed to make it available in the future, once they have met their distributors demands. But it is not readily available yet and I already have the Schuetzen.
  7. We had always used GOEX fffg until Hogdon decided to stop production. So, we bought some Schuetzen fffg Black Powder to continue loading. My Question: How do they compare? Should one use the same Load, add more powder or less powder to get the same results as with the GOEX? Thank you in advance for your advice. Frontier Lone Rider
  8. I buy the yellow 3/8 inch rope from Southern States and attach a dog chain with snap on the end. I put about 2 to 3 feet of dog chain between the rope and the target snap. These are weather resistant. I take them off and store them in the dry between matches. I have yet had to replace one. I have found that if you put too long of a chain on the target, it can affect how the target goes down when hit.
  9. I started with 45LCs, but when I could no longer find any commercial 45LC Ammo, I bought 38 Specials. I had not yet started to reload and could not find 45LC Ammo, but 38 Spl was available and cheaper. A pard taught me how to reload and everything was going smooth. Then, I thought if one is trying to shoot Cowboy Action as being from the old west, shouldn't you be shooting what the early cowboys shot. Thus, here came the 44-40s and black powder. I do not shoot black powder in any of my smokeless firearms. I shoot 38 Special Smokeless for all the monthly matches and 44-40 black powder for all annual or bigger matches. I enjoy them both and reload them both.
  10. I sanded the mating surfaces to ensure there are no defects or bumps, then seal the gasket with Dawn dish Soap, which is what I add for tumbling.
  11. Yeah Rye, we have about two inches of that white stuff in our driveway for another WV 1st Day of Spring. Dawg, I say you should treat yourself to a pair of 44 Mag Stainless Black Hawks to complete this fantastic day. And Another Happy Birthday to you, my friend.
  12. John, I think you like to stir the pot. Your suggestions, as always, are good and progressive for those clubs that can manage the upgrades. I shoot at one club which runs about 10 - 12 older shooters monthly. There is no way under the Sun that they will ever move into the 2000s. As Barb said, they also have no Cell Service at their range. But it is still a fun place to shoot with very friendly pards. I personally have created and maintain three Club Websites at no expense to the club. I used to say that I do these for free, but I actually lose money as I pay the Hosting Fee and a monthly fee to block pop-up advertisements. I hope I have included all of the elements that John listed. Plus, I added music to the different pages. Years ago, I taught a Communications Technology Class and used to note that the Pony Express only lasted 12-18 months. It started as a roaring success, then the Telegraph came along. That pretty much ended the Pony Express. I used to say, the TV Series lasted longer than the actual Pony Express. Even though I taught Technology Education, I still write checks and mail the APPs. I maintain a separate Play Account just to pay for my hobby. I am just old school. My wife, on the other hand, does all of our Family Banking online. I say do whatever you feel the most comfortable with, just as long as you continue to participate and join us at the matches. Continue to have fun...
  13. John, Are saying that my using Smoke Signals is outdated?? Coming up on 77, I really don't mind printing an APP and writing a check.
  14. I didn't check my email until late last night. I had an email that Starline was taking orders. When I logged in, the boxes were still blue, but would not accept any orders. Frustration, that is twice I have missed by just a little. Waiting for the third.
  15. We have a couple that come to the WV State Match just wearing bib overalls and no shoes, could be the same folks. They are legal, but ouch on those bare feet.
  16. Down here in WV they are calling for a day of rain turning into snow. We didn't get that 50-degree memo, hopefully next month. Have fun.
  17. And they said it couldn't be done or was it you couldn't do it. Boy, could they have been more wrong. Oh yeah, Congratulations!
  18. One thing for sure, there won't be any mosquitoes or gnats flying around your head with all of that smoke.
  19. Except for those times that I get busy helping others and forget to put more shells in my belt.
  20. I ordered 2,000 Zombie Green 158 grain for my 357. They load really smooth and yes, no Zombies here as yet.
  21. I have ordered so many from Dave that I feel like we have a personal relationship. Ask him a question and he gets right back to you. I have shot many of his 44-40s with black powder and even more of the 125s 38 Specials with smokeless. I also load the 38 Specials for other pards. I have had no complaints. Dave also makes a deep lubed round for black powder. I used to order from GA Arms until they had a fire. Then I started to reload again after seven years. I tried several different vendors, then settled on Slippery Bullets and have continued to order these bullets. Plus, Dave has the best Shipping Cost around. He makes his money on his product, not outrageous shipping charges. I just received 3,000 38 Specials and have 2,000 more 44-40s on order.
