Yeah, typo on Huglu. I'm not a gunsmith, and I never saw the inside of a CZ in person, but from some pictures I've seen I suspect that the internals are virtually the same for all the Huglu-made shotguns, but I could be wrong. I know for a fact that the main springs from a CZ Sharptail will work in the Navy Arms Coach gun, because that's what I did.

Do you dry the brass between the wash and the Walnut tumbling?

I use Lee dippers to load my APP ammo In 45 Colt I use 1.6cc of APP topped with .7cc of cornmeal, then a 200 g coated bullet. No need for cards or wadding between powder and filler. I used to punch out cork wads to use instead of filler, but the filler is easier.

I always print mine to use for notes and walkthroughs the day before the main match. By the time the main match starts, my hand printed copies are wrinkled, torn, and almost worn out. Partly from being rolled up in my hands or tossed around. My lightweight gun cart doesn't have a box big enough for 8 1/2 by 11 paper. On main match day I use the official booklet to record my scores. The cover is usually thicker paper to keep it in better shape, and sometimes the books are smaller. Land Run booklets are 8.5" x 5.5", and the historical bits for each stage are very interesting. Coodos to everyone that works on these.

Hi Johnny. I handled one at a shop yesterday. The action looks to be exactly like the Navy Arms you did for me, except of course for the double triggers. Barrel is stamped made by Hulu. No raised rib on the barrel, and no choke tubes. I like the looks and the beavertail forearm, but it somehow feels "cheaper" than the Navy Arms. The shell extractor is also only the bottom half, not the hourglass shape.

What side matches do you usually have? I'm thinking of coming, pending some family commitments that may or may not get confirmed.

Only 34" barrel? I'd have thought you'd custom order at least a 40" barrel.

I only see BB and the crew a few times a year in Alabama or Tennessee, and he always gives me a big smile and good conversation, especially if it's having a bit of lunch after the morning matches. They're just another example of why people love this game.

I can make one in 10 gauge, but because the holes are larger, I have to either make the tray bigger, or have fewer than 50 holes. I made a 10 ga for Blackwater and it holds 28 shells in a block 10" by 7". For 50 shells it will be about 14" X 9". I can do really any size, it's just that larger sizes take more time and material. Do you want a 10 GA and a 12 ga, or just the 10?

Ever had shells falling or spilling powder and shot when hand-dipping powder or when roll crimping? These hardwood shell holding trays will help greatly. These are made from solid Red Oak with 50 holes sized to fit 12 gauge hulls brass-side down. I make them with a 45 degree chamfer to make them easier to pick up. (I can also make them for 10 GA hulls, but that will take a bit longer.) The second pic shows the 28 hole 10 GA tray. The last pic shows you can tip these a long way and the shells don't fall out. I have a few available for $20 plus shipping. Or Face to Face at a shoot in Wartrace or at the Alabama State Championship. I have one 12 GA tray left, plus I will have a 10 GA available in a couple days.

I only carry enough stuff to get me through the day's shooting; all major cleaning and maintenance stuff stays in the truck. In my cart I have: Shotgun chamber brush Squib rod Screwdriver set Pistol cleaning rod with brush Small bottle of Ballistol Squirt bottle of Moose Milk if I'm shooting BP If I have major gun issues, I'm not going to tear down the gun. I carry a backup rifle, shotgun, and one revolver in the cart if the range is far from the parking lot. For monthly matches I usually leave backup guns in the truck.

I also had that problem with my Ubertis using wire-style Bolt Springs. However, two of the original flat-style bolt springs broke in less than 4 full seasons. I don't know if both springs were from the same revolver or if each revolver broke their original springs. Since then I replaced the entire revolvers with a pair of Great Western IIs (Pietta) and haven't had the problem since.

Good to know. Did you do any pre-soak, such as putting the brass into a container of water right after shooting?
