  1. The closest thing I can think of to saying you must hit targets is a stage using say 5 knockdown targets and then a dump target. With the stage rules usually just saying knockdown all the targets then dump remaining rounds on the dump target. My local club has a cool tombstone knockdown rack that has a large-ish tombstone at the front and when you knock it down there is a smaller one behind it for 5 tombstones total. We usually use it in Wild Bunch matches with a dump plate.
  2. I thought about saying the same thing and suggesting he swap out the Henry 45 for a Rossi in 454. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1045485396
  3. Old hammer is laying on top of the new hammer in the close up photo. It's easier to see in person than capture in a photo but the new hammer has a lot more meat on it than the old one. In the last 2 photos the new hammer is on the right.
  4. I bought the gun used on here in 2020. I haven't changed anything til now.
  5. Probably not a surprise but I swapped all 3 parts out and the trigger pull is incredibly heavy now. Hopefully it'll break in with some dry fire. The old trigger spring is the one on the bottom with the slight arch to it. The new one is flat as could be.
  6. The Wild Bunch matches I shoot in usually have 21 or 28 pistols rounds each stage. You'd want a few speed loaders for sure to keep up with the 1911's having pre-loaded magazines.
  7. One of thr cowboys I shoot with asked if I could still push the hammer forward if I am also pushing the trigger forward and doing this I cannot push the trigger forward even with a huge amount of force from my thumb. He is the one suggesting I replace my trigger spring. He did say that since I could push the hammer forward though that the sear is likely nearing the end of it's life and I could try taking a stone to the hammer.
  8. I just tried pushing the hammer forward with my thumb. I wouldn't call it gentle pressure but just a tad more than gentle and the hammer will drop forward.
  9. I shot at a small monthly match near me where most of the shooters were in the 60 second stage range except for myself and another guy and his teenaged kid. The guy was running the timer and I was at the loading table ready to shoot next when the kid was shooting. He shot the stage in like 16 seconds but had several misses. When the TO asked the spotters how many misses he had they all called him clean. His Dad disputed it saying he wasn't counting but saw at least 2 but thought there were even more than that. We laughed about it and his Dad said I guess there's an advantage to shooting faster than the spotters can count.
  10. Thanks guys! I went ahead and ordered the hammer, trigger, and trigger spring just to be safe.
  11. With Sear engagement I think it looks OK but I'm not sure what normal looks like. I assume the lip on the hammer gets worn down and I'd have to replace the hammer right?
  12. I think my trigger spring is worn out on my Uberti 1866. The hammer is riding the bolt forward in matches. I lever the rifle and the hammer is all the way forward. Cock the hammer with my thumb and it goes bang every time. I know I didn't have my finger near the trigger when closing the lever. At the Wild Bunch match last Tuesday I had to cock probably 25 of the 30 rifle shots. Ended up just borrowing a rifle to finish the match. For the life of me I cannot find a replacement though other than some put of used guns. Any help guys?
  13. I started out double cocking and learned about alternate cocking and shoot much better that way. I was more curious about how many people shoot the 2 different styles of alternate cocking and the pros and cons between the two. For my opinion between the 2, I suspect the way Jed I Knight shoots is slower than the way I do (though he is still pretty quick); but split pistols always get me in trouble because my hands just cock that 6th shot out of habit before I can fire the 5th shot and I have to shoot the 6th shot where I am standing and take the P. I've tried to retrain my brain to shoot like he does but it just hasn't set in yet. Habits die hard.
  14. Scarlett's topic about Slip Hammering made me think of this. For those of you shooting gunfighter do you cock the revolver right before you shoot it or before you shoot the opposite revolver? What are the pros and cons to each "style"? I guess I should add the 3rd style of double cocking, but that seemed to be slower and could make patterns more confusing than the other 2 styles in my opinion. ie I draw both guns and cock both hammers as I am coming up on target. I shoot my left gun and then quickly re-cock that left hammer while I am aiming the right gun. Once the left hammer is cocked I shoot the right gun and quickly re-cock that right hammer just before I shoot the left gun. Or do you do it like Jed I Knight. Where he cocks the left revolver and then shoots the left revolver. Cocks the right revolver then shoots the right revolver.
