A 9 mm will easily penetrate more than a dozen sheets of of sheet rock. Hollow point defensive rounds are going to fail to expand when passing through even multiple layers of sheet rock.

When you look at the testing, over penetration is a serious concern will all handgun ammo.

In this context, any penetration is overpenetration.

We need to sensationalize the shooter for a few days first, then let them plea bargain a no bail release. Poor Timmy is a good boy!

I saw a headline that said they're juveniles, which suggests that nothing that matters is going to happen to them.

And I swear that one of these times when I see a man not removing his hat when a flag goes by, during the playing or singing of National Anthem, or during the expression of the Pledge of Allegiance I'm going to slap the hat right off his head.

Congress passed a law about 15 years ago that allows veterans to hand salute in civvies.  I can't imagine having to remove one's hat is required in such a scenario, especially in light of the history behind the salute.

Bet they've been collecting records on who has been buying ammo and accessories for modern sporting rifles.

Getting ready to start knocking on doors and going after those that didn't comply with their unconstitutional gun registration.

How would they do that?   There are no records for buying ammunition.  You can just pay cash for it and leave with it.

I rarely use a cell phone to read the news, I always use a desktop.

They started out, wanting you to sign up, on just a few stories...now it's all of them it seems.

I will NOT give them my e-mail address just to read their articles, half of which are just retitled old stories anyway. I am very protective of my e-mail and will not give it to them (or anyone else) so that they can bombard me with spam and sell it so I can get really bombarded with spam. There isn't even a phone number to call to talk to a live person. At this point, FOX News can KMA, I'll look at another of the dozen news sources. I even deleted from my favorites bar. A REALLY STUPID decision on FOX's part IMO.

You do realize that you can sign up for a garbage email address in less than 5 minutes at dozens or maybe even hundreds of places online, right?  There's no reason you have to give an email address that you ever use or check.

  6. I'm pretty sure the Chicago police department as an institution is very familiar with what can happen if protests get out of control and I'm not surprised one bit.

From a legal perspective there is little difference between a custodial arrest and a citation/summons, either way you have to come before the court to answer for the behavior or the judge will issue a warrant for your arrest.

  7. The internet is awash with people who hate the ATF and just want to make them out to be the enemy.  The administrative side of the ATF are not gun-toting door kickers and they are really just expecting people to do their paperwork and comply with the rules.  They are not looking to shut down gun retailers for minor discrepancies.

You're all adults - do whatever you think is best for yourself - but don't ignore it and don't believe for a second that you are invulnerable.

I think the most my wife said she pronounced dead in a 12 hour shift was 11 people.  The look on her face said it all.

The last rebuild of my old Shovelhead was in 2000!  It has about 70,000 miles on it since that complete overhaul with new cases, (the old cases cracked when the primary chain broke during a trip on the interstate at around 70mph) and new cylinders.

Since that time it has never leaked a drop of any fluid. We replaced the original transmission with a six speed and updated the primary system with a closed, fluid filled EVO clutch assembly.

It was done by myself and a great Harley specialist who has since passed on.  He built Panheads and Knucklheads with belt drive primaries so that he could close the “total loss” oiling systems.

Bikes that he built won many awards and trophies, including several overall wins at various Easy Rider shows. They didn’t leak either!

I'm pretty sure the guy who told me that just wanted me to buy a new motorcycle, but I'm perfectly content with the ones I have.

I've never owned one older than an Evo though.

You probably know this but before you buy make sure you can get parts for it.

I don't think there's a Harley-Davidson on earth that you can't get parts for.  I'm sure it gets much harder as you go back in generation, but there is an abundant aftermarket for pretty much all of the bikes that have been made in my father's lifetime.

That said, just like driving a 50 year old car, there's a certain masochistic tendency you have to have to drive an old car/bike.  It's not like getting in your new car and hitting the key...these ancient clunkers remind you of old times every time you get in them.

Not if they are put together correctly

What most people don't understand is you have Cast Iron cylinders and Aluminum heads and cases.

So the heat and expansion is different.

So you MUST allow the engine to warm up before you take off for a ride .

I would dare to ride my Shovelhead anywhere with out worry .

But all Shovelheads are not taken care of like mine lol :D

I would love to have any antique American motorcycle someday.  I enjoy them from a distance.  Perhaps when I retire.

This is my One owner 1977 FLHS .

This is the bike that latter in life becomes the Roadking .

I'm the second caretaker of her in her lifetime.

I bought her from Jim the original owner who bought her new & rode her for 40 years .

I gave him twice what he bought her for new .

    Love this old girl .

She is my Sunday ride around the lake bike .

Some of you may remember I was almost killed on my 1979 FLH in 2016 and got broken up bad.

This is the replacement bike for that bike that got destroyed in the crash .

That's a really nice looking ride.

Is the joke about Shovelheads true, about be worried if they're not leaking, because they're out of oil?
