  1. I saw this thread yesterday, and it made me think about what is the best thing I can say about eggplant. It isn't okra.
  2. As long as you are OK sitting down to pee.
  3. Mary had a little lamb, Mashed potatoes on the side, And some wonderful asparagus. A romaine salad with blue cheese dressing, A lovely glass of a delightful chianti, And a slice of chocolate cake for desert. There was a bright green shirt?
  4. Hybrid double-action fully semi-auto revolver? Or Belgian safety pocket pistol maybe? https://classic.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=13058849
  5. It was a long time ago, but somehow being home today on a rainy day made me remember home more. He was a good guy. Vietnam. This was way back when I became a citizen and signed up for the draft. He got called, I did not. I think part of the memories came back from seeing a shopper at the local gun store, Vietnam Vet hat and t-shirt. I wanted to walk by and thank him for his service. I didn't and think I should have. Anyway, let's keep celebrating awesome music. All of these songs mean something to someone.
  6. Also public schools can not post "no guns" signs, but other (by inference through omission, private and religious schools still may post public signage). This respects property and religious freedoms. In combination with no civil liability for engaging, there is also a liability shield for not engaging. Carrying a firearm implies no duty to engage. This provides comprehensive immunity.
  7. On followup for who is covered under the employee definition, from the bill text ... So not a visitor or random parent, but anyone legitimately working at the school.
  8. Out of committee with recommendation to pass. Pretty comprehensive list. No. Yes Kudos to the state for posting bill text with deletions and additions in a human readable format: https://legislature.idaho.gov/wp-content/uploads/sessioninfo/2024/legislation/H0415.pdf
  9. This thread calls for AC/DC Thunderstruck to wake it up! But I offer this instead: I was thinking about a lost friend today... He liked Thunderstruck. This song reminds me of him.
  10. Where were these flags manufactured and when were they imported to the US for distribution and sale? Just curious...
  11. The blatant thieves do need to go. And any who do not really direct anything are administrative waste. The calls for a total purge are misguided.
  12. 2X2X3=12 2X2X2X3=24 2X2X3X5=60 Hours and minutes are logical and useful units of time. And are easily factored. But but but we have 10 fingers! So why not 10 or 20 hours and 100 minutes per hour? Well, true we do have ten fingers but the four fingers on each hand have 12 joints. And the thumb can keep track of a joint by touching it. So using base 12, we can easily count from 0 to 143 on our hands. One hand for keeping track of the "ones" place and the other hand for keeping track of the "twelves" place. Base 12 is just as arbitrary a choice as base 10. For advanced finger math in base 10 (how to use your hands as a abacus), see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chisanbop
  13. I thought it was Penal Colony Day... Anyway, have a BBQ to celebrate it, whatever it is.
  14. But this is not the Scottish Action Shooting Society. Sure, kilts are legal, but not required. But yes, clockwise is in the direction of the Sun's motion as viewed from the northern hemisphere. It is young Australians with no analog clock experience who are most likely to find this concept confusing.
  15. "They believe that any legitimate reform must begin with a purging and significant downsizing of the current 76-member Board ..." Cut off the head and the organization's pieces will fall apart. That is part of the attack. Not that there is not some new governance needed, but dissolving the bulk of current leadership could be a death blow to the one organization which actually has real safety training and safety certification, a huge organization of trainers, counselors, and real leadership with a history going back far more than a century. And despite the press and other attacks, really does have a lot of legal battles going on for our rights. But a purge of most leadership is the easiest way to destroy rather than save all of that.
  16. Oh good! Was afraid they might be out drinking Bud Light and styling each other's man buns. Wonder how long it will take them to find this thread...
  17. Almost had to clean wine off my screen... Years ago when working as a computer engineer, an "important" customer called wanting to know how to use his high-end engineering workstation to play music CDs. While most would just buy a $40 CD player, I helped him out. And did get CDs playing on the workstation. But at one point, he stopped following my instructions and did something else, and I snippily asked him "did I tell you to do that?" And he got back on track and we got the tunes going. Within seconds of closing the call, the VP of engineering (really a marketing guy) called me into his office. And started dressing me down for my "unprofessional" conduct to this "important" customer. He is going on and on, and not listening to me at all. Then his phone rings. And the receptionist informs him this "important" customer is asking to speak with him. He tells me to be quiet (with a look) and puts the "important" customer on speaker so we can both hear. The "important" customer starts going on and on about how much he appreciates the knowledge and help and service I (me) provide to his organization, how this is so rare in the reseller industry, and how much he appreciates the special attention and clear focus the technical staff (me) provides to the account. And how he just felt my help was so above and beyond what any other vendor provides that he decided to call and thank upper management. And then ended the call. I asked "Anything else you feel a need to discuss?" No...
  18. If he ever did a mag change, that is now considered building a firearm. And I see no video:
  19. Your wife's family member... Is there somewhere he wants to go, somewhere he wants to see, or someone he wants to see. These are things I would shell out some bucks to help with. Can you help him with some experience he still wants. It sure is not chemo and surgery of this cancer, that is not something he wants. Can you help him with living rather than fighting dying?
  20. "According to the report, prior to engaging the engine, one member of the maintenance unit conducted the required tool inventory check, noting a missing flashlight. Another maintenance squadron member inspected the engine with a flashlight. Following this inspection, this squadron member placed the flashlight on the edge of the engine intake. This member did not conduct a routine inventory check, which resulted in the flashlight being left on the intake. While the engine was in operation, no warning signs were noted from the cockpit that the engine had encountered foreign material. However, at the end of the test run, maintenance personnel became aware of abnormal sounds from the engine compartment. The engine of the F-35A is estimated to have suffered $3,933,106 in damage. According to the report, each member assigned to conduct the modifications was fully qualified for the duties they were to perform. USAF Colonel Sean S. Brammer-Hogan, President of the Accident Investigation Board, noted the failure of all squadron members to follow inventory protocol resulted in the costly accident. " So as I read it, someone lost a flashlight and followed protocol by reporting it. Someone else used a second flashlight, did not find the first flashlight, left the second flashlight on the engine cowl. The engine then likely sucked up two flashlights and made unhappy noises. And the first guy who reported the lost flashlight is probably at fault for losing the flashlight he reported missing by following the procedure for missing tools.
  21. Did not say it was a requirement. Anyway, also learned to never actually ask a question if I did not already know the answer. 2 + 2 = ...
  22. Provide attribution for the source, and you should be fine. But asking permission is a good thing.
  23. Gonna be hard to get volunteers for such a squad... I pray it is impossible. I'm praying there were boating accidents and lots of guns got moved out of state to vacation homes. Also praying the state waits to find out if their ban (or registration requirement) is constitutional before trying to enforce it. Finally, the funding is to reduce crime. I'm praying officers know the difference between some criminal with a gun and the criminalization of otherwise law-abiding citizens.
  24. Getting rid of sweet ants, an old-school non-pesticide way. Certain ants eat sweets, at least at certain times of the year. And Boric Acid (a pesticide) will kill them. But it can also hurt pets and rug-rat children. Besides that, sprinkling the ants with it kills those ants but what about the nest? And it leaves a mess to clean up. So mix up some Borax (laundry booster) with corn syrup and put it out as ant bait. , just a little bit on some paper. (do not touch or move it once the ants find it or they may abandon it). But if you figure out the trail, put more out where they are entering the building. The ants will take this food back to the nest for the entire colony to enjoy. After a few days, the trail will widen, slow, and finally stop showing up. At this point, the nest is dead. Any new hatches in the nest will find plenty of boraxed corn syrup to eat.
