Bad news, good news, bad news, good news.
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Pulp, SASS#28319's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Some days you win, some days you lose, and other days you can't win for losing. You know you shot the only good primer out of the batch, the rest will be squibs at a big match that you waited months to shoot at and do well. -
I think you mean: Dry white toast (1st order) 4 whole fried chickens and a coke. (2nd order)

First match in nearly a year

Show up and have fun. Even if you only fire one shot and take misses for the rest, you got to shoot the match. Be well. Maddog -

Well, I got a job agian after being off work and hiding on my farm most of last year. I scheduled my vacation for Black Gold this week ( I get 3 weeks plus 5 personal days during the first year) and my son told me he is ready to go. I got hotel reservations yesterday in Manchester and will send the applications later in the week. Maddog McCoy and Just Jason will be there. -
Mask advocate admits the truth
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Trigger Mike's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I believe that a lot of the hand sanitizer is made from grain alcohol. (or it was when nobody could get anything else.) If you mix it with some Coca Cola you may be able to sanitize your insides with it. I would make a long post about masks and my general hate of them, but i am too tired and really don't give a $^% about them. The one's required a work usually give me a sore throat by the end of my shift most days. I only wear it there since they pay me. -
WTB: 12 gauge 2 3/4 low recoil
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Captain Bullitt's topic in SASS Wire
I scored 7 boxes of 12ga LNLR AA shotgun shells today. It was last of all of their ammo except for some odd's and ends ( 28 ga shells, 410s and some 12 ga I never heard.) Regular price, 7.87 a box with Illinois 9.5% sales tax. -
Important Announcement about EOT 2021
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Misty Moonshine's topic in SASS Wire
I will be signing up next week. I was 2 hours from there for a long time and now about 5 hours or less away. I think the last time I was there I was shooting a monthly match for practice before I left for Winter Range. Guess I better get busy, Got to find a camper and fix one of the golf carts I bought last year. See you all soon. Maddog McCoy -
Important Announcement about EOT 2021
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Misty Moonshine's topic in SASS Wire
The Range in Sparta Illinois has 1000 campsites, 12 Berms and Is big enough for the shoot. June in Southern Illinois can be hot or comfortable, just never can tell. However, it is owned by the State of Illinois and the state would cancel the shoot the day before it started if they felt that way. You can not trust the governor, he changes the rules on a daily basis. Where ever it is, I plan on going this year and hopefully it is closer to Illinois that New Mexico and somewhere the weather is nice and cool in June. -
Need loads for 160-165 gr. Russian
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Thunder Creek Kid's topic in SASS Wire
I use 3 grains of trail Boss in my 44 Russians with 165 grain bullets. -
8.5 grains of Win 231 was my standard load for 44 mag for years. In my Marlin 1894 with 20 inch JM barrel rifle, it performed well for 100+ yards. I used them in my 7.5 inch barreled revolver, worked well was a bit on the hotter side. I am now loading 5.5 grains of Trail Boss for a lighter cowboy load with a 200 grain bullet. It seems to work fairly well, In my Marlin rifle, need to do some more testing . 3.0 grains of trail Boss with a 160 grain bullet is my handgun cowboy load, I use a Russian or Special case.

Seems Like WAY Too Much Work
Maddog McCoy SASS #5672 replied to Subdeacon Joe's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Well, I just drive to the other side of the farm and use the one in my dad's garage. On a good day, I also get the wood I need to cut out of his stack of lumber. -
I picked up Federal large primers at a local shop for 42/ 1000 and Winchester large pistol at 52/1000. He had a large supple of Federal Match grade large primers for 85/1000. he stated he was not sure when he would get small primers, About$50 or less per 1000 would be my buy price. I still have a good supply of large and small for now. I sold a 6000 small primers to a couple cowboys that were out, I charged them $10/ 1000 over what I paid for them and I doubt i can replace them for the price I gave them . I always try to write what I paid for components on the box so I know what I have investe

If you go to Indiana or Missouri or any other state bordering Illinois and buy a big ticket item, you have to pay Illinois sales taxes on it. Cars, appliances, and anything they can figure out you bought. There is a place on the Illinois state income tax for for you to fill in your out of state purchases to pay the tax. The tax rate when i bought my last car in Indiana while living in Illinois was based on the county where you lived. I think it was 5% in Indiana and 8% where i lived in Illinois and the dealer selling the car added it to the purchase. Illinois has be trying to collect sale
