  1. This is the first step in making firearms prohibitively expensive to shoot. They won't infringe on your right to own one... but will make it impossible to shoot.
  2. Remember: 95% of all the EVs are still on the road. The other 5% made it home.
  3. I asked my Navy daughter about protocol when multiple flags pass by in parade. For example, a Shrine parade has multiple flags. She told me the hand-over-heart is for the first flag that passes by. Unlike salutes... when we visited Annapolis, my son-in-law had to return every salute given outdoors. He joked about getting indoors, quick. The Pledge is an integral part of our Masonic lodge proceedings. The nights when I am Master, I am proud to lead it.
  4. 15 man-bun types just saw that commercial and crapped themselves.
  5. We just got back from a week at Mardi Gras. I was truly amazed at how well behaved everybody was, despite the TREMENDOUS amount of noise and crowds. A shoot-out at Mardi Gras would hit a lot of bystanders.
  6. Back before it became Unobtanium, I bought TB in true 2# bottles. Recently, I scored a 5# factory sealed bottle from a local seller at $40 / lb face to face. ADI is the manufacturer, and if they say out of production, I tend to believe them.
  7. I have pairs of these pre-2005 Vaquero Bisley in both 357 and 44 mag. I much prefer the feel of the Bisley grip. There are others, but I haven't gotten around to photographing them yet. Been spending most of my shooting time with Wesson PM7 and Alaskan 44.
  8. Single-Six Bisley in 22LR. I have a pair in stainless, and a 3rd in blue.
  9. Neither of us is Brian Litz, so it is all speculation until measured otherwise and documented. Linear or not, the published minimums and maximums show the range of pressures by charge weights. One can interpolate between these two points and be confident they remain within the safe range. For me, Interpolation is more accurate than a wild-ass guess.
  10. My brand new Stoeger was also difficult to break open. I took it to the range, and it broke the barrel hinge lug which destroyed my gun. IMO, if it is difficult to open, then something is too tight and subject to a lot of stress and potential breakage.
  11. Interesting. It is/was my understanding that pressure is linear within the range of published charge weights. For example, Hodgdon publishes for the 130 gr Meister Cast LRNFP with Clays powder 3.0 grains, 828 fps, 12,500 psi 3.5 grains, 924 fps, 16,100 psi If linear in the published range, this is useful to interpolate an intermediate value to find a specific pressure. I use this (y=mX+B) to find 11,518 psi for BHN=9 soft lead bullets for optimum obturation. As long as the calculated PSI is between the minimum and maximum range, there is no safety issue.
  12. I can understand that. At my age, I am very aware of my failing short term memory (maybe they will make me President). And the stress that comes from trying to remember sweep instructions for the first time. Shooting weekly with my lodge buddies is no-stress at all. This range allows any firearm up to, not including, 50 BMG which are now illegal in CA anyway. I take my shotguns, 30-06, 223, 243, and all my various handguns and plink to my heart's desire. No stress.
  13. I support organizations that I believe in. This includes food closets, where I will never get merchandise. Shrine Hospital where my family will never be a patient. Salvation Army, where I will never be an unwed mother. VCDL in Virginia, where I will never be a resident. $69 per year IS a lesser degree. As noted above, the cost of a couple pizzas and pitcher of beer. I can also understand if you simply don't want to be arsed with keeping a SASS membership. We dropped HBO, ShowTime, and Comcast cable for the same reasons. I fully agree with your 150 mile round trip. I simply would not shoot ANYWHERE that I had to make that long of a drive. For me, 30 miles / 45 minutes each way is a PITA I don't enjoy, and why I am not a frequent SASS shooter after my cardiac bypass surgery got the green light. I let my membership in Sac Valley Shooting Center lapse for the above reason. Also because they raised the dues to force me into being a "voting member" and required range service time. And last, because the general manager is a complete and total asshole. I have a membership at an indoor range that is closer, but $25 per month. I shoot every week with friends then we shoot the bull at lunch afterwards.
  14. Amen to that. Anti-freeze is a slow and agonizing death.
  15. IMO, $69 is the price of two pizzas and a pitcher of beer. I can understand the considerable expense of reloading supplies, or factory ammunition. I can also understand the cost of fuel to make a 30+ mile drive, each way, to a range. Then, pay the $$ range fees to shoot. But $69 per year, I can't understand balking at that.
  16. Because two of my daughters are R.N.s, one in oncology. They see the esophagus rebuilds after losing it to chaw. One of my lodge brothers was a smoker and chewer, and lost his to cancer as well. My Uncle Joe died from mouth cancer, same reasons. Alcohol combined with tobacco is the double whammy... the alcohol washes the protective mucus away, and allows the smoke/chew more direct contact with those tissues. I don't have a dog in this fight, so I don't give a hoot about the bad choices others make. They have to live with the consequences of those choices, not me. The vast majority of deaths in musicians is from heroin. So many of them also have alcohol problems as well. It's a tough life.
  17. I read the cause was stomach cancer. Chewing tobacco?
  18. I would spring for the 1894 in 44 mag, if it came with octagonal barrel.
  19. Last night, my bride made Angus burgers in beef gravy and lots of mushrooms and mashed taters with brussel sprouts. After spending five days at Mardi Gras, our dinner last night was more tasty, and cost 1/10th of dinner in NOLA. And we could go back for seconds.
  20. A metal trap and large bucket of water.
  21. I heard back from LAX Ammo They will ship all orders taken prior to the 2/5 rescind date. Any orders after 2/5 cannot be shipped to CA. Mine was placed 2/3, so will get shipped to me eventually.
  22. No. I understand the CZ has promise, but I have no knowledge, pro or con. Ask here. There are many experienced hands here.
  23. LAX Ammo sat on their hands with my order, and now it is once again illegal to ship to CA. It doesn't take CA very long to find an activist judge that will countermand Benitez.
