  1. CA Highway Patrol is a different animal from local police departments,

    A whole lot.

Insurance companies have a vested interest (read: money) so I am positive they welcomed any evidence that would get them off the hook.

I'm glad it worked out well for you, and even more glad you were not injured and now walking with a cane... as I see so many old bikers do today.

Sometimes when they start their spiel, I'll reply with, (best Indian accent), "Hello, this is Bob from Microsoft our engineers have determined that there is a problem with your computer". They don't stay on long after that.

My grandson excels at the Indian telemarketer accent.
He leads them on and eventually promises if they will marry his daughter, he will give them a goat.

My only attempt at harassing these clods went like this:
Her: "My name is Debbie, what is yours?"
Me:  "My name is Rakesh Kendelwall (in best Indian accent)"

Her: "I am not of thinking your name is Rakesh"
Me:  "And I am not of thinking your name is Debbie."

ALL callers not in your iPhone Contacts will go straight to your voice mail.

    Interesting.
I have voice mail not-configured on my iPhone because I don't want to be arsed with cleaning out the box.

I wonder if your method above sends them straight to Trash or some other bit bucket.
My number is 32 years old, so I'm on every spam list known to spammers.

Stuff like this happening more and more frequently is making me seriously think about getting forward and rearward dashcams.

    In CA, why bother?
My experience with the police and crime, is they only come out for blood or dead bodies.  Or bikinis, if in San Diego.
In my town, we have crystal clear photos of thieves, caught in the act, and their license plates.
    And nothing comes of it.

  5. My Navy daughter worked in the classified terrorism arena.
She says they know everything there is to know about you already.

If you access anything with your computer, they know about it.
    Anything at all.
That is why when you look at a garbage disposal at Lowes.Com you get an ad for the same from Fox news.

One would have to become a total Luddite to go "off grid" and that would not remove what has already been collected.

  6. Sadly, we have to favor Taint popcorn.... tain't gonna be tonight.
It bugs her IBS and bugs my glucose, so tain't gonna be very often.

On rare occasions, I make "usgusting" popcorn, named by my then 3-year old grand daughter (now 21).
A whole stick of melted salted butter (or more), Jiffy Pop white popcorn, sea salt and Cholula sauce.

  7. This extra day reminds of the time I actually got 8 hours of sleep... and it only took three days to get it.

Today is "Drag Your Wife To The Gym" day.

24 Hour Fitness is offering a 3-day pass to bring a spouse or friend.
She favors the recumbent bike, and happily pedals for an hour while reading a book.

  8. Years ago I wrote a program to control a series of home controllers to control lights and appliances.  It required an adapter that communicated over the power lines similar to power line Ethernet does today.

this is viable today because it is not attached to the internet so it can’t be hacked.

  9. I have a spread sheet of various cities categorized by population, vote party, crime, air and water quality, cost of housing and taxes.

So far, I have 344 cities entered, and SO very few that meet my qualifications.

Air quality and Climate are big factors, so I was amused to find out I own a property in San Diego which has mighty fine air quality and climate.
SD get an "F" for all the other factors, such as firearms, bums, illegals, politics, taxes, crowding, cost of living, traffic, etc.

A new addition to my data source is property tax rates and taxes paid.
Very useful for anybody seriously considering a relocation.

  10. Answering the question, I prefer plain cake donuts.
That aside, I much prefer those phat cinnamon rolls wound up in a spiral like a huge cow pie with lots of melted butter on top.

However, all the above hates my glucose, and hates on it for several days, so I have to pass.

  11. When #2 daughter and grand daughters were away on vacation, we had cat feeding duty.
While opening the front door, I was telling my bride some ideas I had for our next Date Night.

Then, lo and behold, #2 daughter starts talking to us through the Ring doorbell.

It has both audio and video capabilities.
#2 has no illusions about how she came to be in the world, plus being an R.N. for twenty years, so she got a good laugh.

  12. The Costco brand is excellent in every aspect.
Each bag is much larger than the wimpy ones from the super market.
    Taste is first class.

Popcorn is a staple and Food Group in our house.
2:15 in our nuker makes it perfect with nearly every kernel popped.

What I would like to see soon would be an article in the next American Rifleman, or maybe the next after that, that has a full account of the facts; honest,  detailed, without embellishment, rationalizations, or spin; one which also might point the way forward. And which contains no plea for funds whatever.

Won't hold my breath. But something like that should happen soon.

If it does not come, this tells me "business as usual".

  14. It sounds like somebody has access to the studio tracks where they muted all by her mic track.

There is a similar one for Fleetwood Mac, where they demonstrate dropping all all the little bitty tracks that add so much to their Rumors album.
