  1. I will have to shoot my 1991 Toyota Truck next to the new 2023 Tacoma.
    The size difference is huge.

I really did want a new Hilux sized truck, but Toyota only imports "life style" trucks into the US.
The Hilux is sold throughout the world, and with a stick shift.

  2. It was explained to me, when you changes rooms, the brains sees a change of scene and flushes everything from the previous scene.
My bride has a trick:  she walks backwards to where she came from, until she hits the place where it fell out of her head, then jumps back in.

  3. We find the Costco Kirkland to be very good.
These are larger bags and not the skimpy small ones.
Taste is excellent, 2 minutes and 15 seconds to pop all the kernels.

Popcorn used to be one of the Primary Food Groups in our house...
Then diabetes came along, and IBS for my wife, so now very infrequent.

  4. I was very fortunate to find a new 2023 Tacoma 4x4 after calling around to NorCal, Reno, Boise, Salt Lake, LA and finally Fresno.
The 2024 Tacomas are an entirely new product line.. new engines, chassis, body, turbos and EV batteries (a deal breaker).

The 2023 is the last of the line for the current 3.5l engine and transmission.
Meaning they are as evolved as they will ever get, and free of early/1st year production defects.

And.. it both starts and runs in cold weather.
    Imagine that.

  5. IMO, far, far more damage comes from the gov't mandated auto-stop at red lights and stop signs.

One can only *assume* the starter motor duty cycle is now vastly higher to account for this wear and tear... but I doubt that.
One can know for certain the oil galleys are NOT at full pressure when the engine stops, then restarts.

Crank and rod bearings are the flat Babbit type, and not roller bearings which are more tolerant of no oil pressure film to ride on.
For me, auto-stop is a deal breaker if it cannot be disabled.

My Dad had a bud who drove big rigs during WW2.
He said they never shut them off for the duration of the war... changed filter and threw in a quart of fresh.
He said they got over a million miles from those rigs, because they never shut down.

If Toyota and the others were smart (are are not), they would engineer an auxiliary electric oil pump to maintain full galley pressure at red light shutdowns.
Dad had one of these in his '65 Econoline van.
It was triggered by the drivers' door switch and brought up pressure.
By the time he was in the driver's seat and hit the key, the galleys were at full pressure.

  6. When Idaho got Californicated, the teenie weenie 1940s homes in the Boise North End jumped up to $600k.
This priced the locals out of the market (again), and gave the property tax collector a real thrill.

After Dad passed in the early 90s, his estate instructions required the sale of his house after his wife died.
It was a half acre or more, full basement, bomb shelter below that, and a view of the entire Boise valley and mountains.
It went in 2006 for $137k to a local who is still in it today.
Zillow currently lists it at $570k for 1600 sq ft.

  7. The Fed reducing interest rates was attributed to a Trump comment, published on Fox News.
I am the perpetual cynic, and believe these tactics are commonplace to manipulate elections.

The debt officially hit $34 trillion, meaning the gov't continues to print fiat currency fueled by debt.
This behavior is artificial, because M1/M2 continue to increase and an increase in the money supply triggers inflation.

  8. I am far more impressed by the efforts of GOA, et al.
NRA always has its hand out for money, and blows it on management and give-away booby prize crap.

I'd druther the money was spent on lawsuits fighting the Marxists.
