  1. LAX Ammo sat on their hands with my order, and now it is once again illegal to ship to CA. It doesn't take CA very long to find an activist judge that will countermand Benitez.
  2. Many of the Hodgdon powders are made by ADI, including Trail Boss. ADI AS25BP if my source is correct. It is my limited understanding this powder is suspended for the foreseeable future, as ADI wants to concentrate more on rifle powders. I assume the profit margin for TB is very small and not worth the bother.
  3. Tyrel is nudging me... I bought a brand new Coach Supreme after waiting nearly half a year for it to be available in stock. I took it to my shotgun range, and it died after a few rounds. The barrel hinge broke which destroyed the gun. The Stoeger warranty works like this: 1) Buy the gun 2) Have it shipped over X shipping days. 3) Wait X days for FFL to put the gun on the books 4) Start background check, wait for result 5) Start 10 day CA waiting period delay Take gun to range where it dies. 1) Contact Stoeger for warranty 2) Gun cannot be repaired, only replaced. 3) Ship gun to Stoeger over X shipping days 4) Wait X days for Stoeger to "Examine" the destroyed gun 5) Stoeger ships new gun and serial over X shipping days 6) Wait X days for FFL to put the gun on the books 7) Start background check, wait for result 8) Start 10 day CA waiting period delay Take deliver of the new gun, with same same metallurgy and poor internal finish. Rinse and Repeat. Hell will become exothermic before I EVER buy another Stoeger. I called Stoeger and shamed them into a refund because they make lemons. I was fortunate to grab a 1970s era Charles Daly (Winchester), which is an order of magnitude better quality gun. YMMV. Mine sucked.
  4. Thanks! I added that VV 2005 guide to my library.
  5. Titegroup is a fine powder for your intended use.
  6. The hodgdon online load data is your friend. They publish pressure as well as velocity so you tailor your loads to the BHN ( hardness) of the Bullet you use. I use BHN=9 which is 11k PSI for SASS revolver use. Fast powders such as 231, clays, red dot, 700x, clean shot, No.2 all work well in this range. Most hi tek I see are in the 12-16 BHN range, so adjust your powder accordingly.
  7. I was first in line when a local seller on CalGuns posted a sealed 5# jug at the pre-hoarding price. $40 per pound IIRC. Enough for the rest of my shooting days. Been over a year since 4x bypass, so looking forward to shooting again.
  8. Can you buy your house today for $130k? I doubt it. I paid $110k for mine, which today would sell for $500k The point is what would be paid for somebody buying a property at todays pricing. Our San Diego property is worth $2.2M with a property tax of $895 because it has been in the family since 1948. Current tax without Prop 13 protection is $16,600 yearly.
  9. Texas property tax rates are much higher than mine in CA. This is somewhat offset by no income tax. Every relo is unique. I read enough “buyers remorse “ stories to convince me these folks up and moved without the understanding the ramifications. We are too old to pull up and start over, so I don’t have a dog in this event beyond academic consideration.
  10. Leaving CA is not viable for many reasons. Those I speak to have not given a moment’s thought to big property tax hits.
  11. Or they are fed up so they up and leave
  12. Farming is easy work when plowing with a keyboard.
  13. I stocked up from LAX Ammo sending directly to my home address (for now).
  14. I picked up 5744 / Buffalo Rifle for reduced loads in 30-06 and 45-70 if I ever acquire one (not likely)
  15. Outside of sacramento city, reloading components can be direct shipped to the buyer. Within the city all components, screws springs etc have to ship to FFL by county ordinance. I’m in the county, no restrictions yet. I fully expect this new loophole to close very soon. CA never quits with new laws that have to wind thru court before shot down
  16. Good luck with CA block. My FFL wants $25 fee to accept incoming ammo shipments. Most vendors seem to err on side of caution rather than risk getting closed down. The judge blocked the back ground check but what about the DROS? This will change again very soon, so I figure many shops will hold their breath
  17. This is a truly excellent powder on paper. Suitable for revolver loads and short barrels. I have Clays already so only watch this powder out of idle curiosity
  18. $3400 joke. Especially for a Version 1.0 new design
  19. The perp flipped the bird when release. NY voted for this so now the get to live with it. LEOs caught between rock and a hard place, pension vs desire to leave
  20. Been Unobtanium for quite awhile, same as 5744.
  21. You cannot buy legal ammo in CA without filling out a DROS, no matter how you pay for it. My FFL charges $25 fee for incoming ammo
  22. For starters, I thought I was very clear about not carrying two guns for myself. What I was not clear about, was carrying two in blatant open carry for the world to see. So no, I don't need my dick extended. The point made was the sort of young fella that feels he has to carry two, prominently exposed, is a prick looking for trouble. From your posts you sound like a sensible fella who speaks softly and carries big sticks. Here in CA, any firearm defense by me would be a catastrophic life changing event. The State would destroy me in court, and my wife would wind up out on the street.
  23. My immediate concern is more about the tens of millions of illegals currently in America. The statistics show vast numbers of single, military age men of all nationalities coming across the border.
